Tune Hotel takes off to a swinging start

Tune Hotel is situated at the crossroads of Jalan Raja Laut and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman in Kuala Lumpur.
KUALA LUMPUR: Tune Hotel, Malaysia’s first no -frills hotel is off to a promising start.

Even before its opening on Friday, the 173-room hotel was already fully booked for its first three days and its founder Datuk Tony Fernandes, is confident that things can only get better.

"I can’t explain it but I have a good feeling about this venture," he said, adding that he had a similar vibe when he started AirAsia.

The chief executive officer of AirAsia paid a surprise visit to the hotel yesterday and greeted the guests. Accompanying him were the hotel’s chairman, Datuk Kalimullah Hassan, and its director, Datuk Kamaruddin Meranun.

Hapandi Daud, a banker from Johor who was staying for two nights, said the hotel was luxurious compared to other budget hotels.
"The rooms are cosy and clean. The key card was a delightful surprise as I did not expect that level of security for the price I paid."

The room rates start from RM9.99 with an average rate of RM55.
