Girlie-bars are not so in-your-face , being a good muslim country, but they are there!!!
Try Bangsar ( just a little way out of the city centre )
Or in the city around the junction of Jalan P Ramlee and Jalan Sultan Ismail
I can recommend the beach bar just outside Bukit bintang plenty of friendly people there
Nice one Extras, was supposed to go to KL last year but couldn't make it
will do one day though.
Thanks!
Not girlie bars as we know but in the Golden Triangle; a road right near towers and not far from Hard Rock Cafe are loads of freelancer. Open market Vietnamese, Thai, Phillipino - I even had some Kenyan peice try to make me succumb to her charms.
Personally I think KL is an expensive shithole however...couldn't belive it when I walked in a bar and saw SKOL on tap at 240 B. Las time i saw that battery acid was when my father used to buy 24 cans for 3.99.
no girlie bars in KL ... not like thailand ...
but karaoke's aplenty for "other than drinking" activities
expect to pay a bomb to visit these joints
beach club is of course popular for pick up ... it came out in the news sometime back as a scoop article on vice in the heart of the city ...
Great trip report!
Great travel report - just re-read it !
240 baht for SKOL was for a jug ! Standard price in town !
Glass around 80 Bhat
Took me back a few years !!!
Ask E.G. about dens of iniquity though
That'd be this one possibly

I liked KL as well, most people speak some english, it's clean and much more orderly than BKK. Quality of life certainly isn't that bad if you got an expat salary, I would definetely prefer it to BKK as a workplace and just go to BKK for party and holidays.
KLIA Express runs from the main airport only. You could take a taxi to the main airport but it would be easier to take a taxi direct to town .
KLIA Express to the Sentral Station 28 mins
LCCT by taxi to KL City about 40 - 60 mins depending on when and where you are headed
^^ best way to KL (Sentral station) from the LCCT is the Airaisia express bus which is very cheap and frequent .
As of mid last week:
Be careful of the taxi set up as you walk out the door (veer right via the renovations) - the deluxe taxis are in front but you need to buy a ticket from inside the terminal - expensive.
The standard taxi's are off to the left (on the other side of the area horded off for renovations) BUT then you have the issue of negotiating a price, checking if the car has any suspension, air conditioning and assessing your tolerance to Vindaloo BO for 40min.
If you want to get to KLIA cheap - keep walking past the standard taxis, about 500m and there is a bus stop which has regular services.
Excellent pictures again, you're really good with a camera, for a girl that is.
KL looks really nice and clean with plenty to do and see.. it's on the list.
Still need an official photographer for Angkor Wat.
Cheers, I'll take that as a compliment.
Angkor Wat eh.... let me check my schedule....
food is fantastic in KL, in my opinion just as good if not better than Bangkok - certainly a much better choice of streetfood. One of the reasons I'm looking forward to spending a few days there next week on my way through for 4 months in Pinas.
where KL comes short is live entertainment. There never seems to be an established jazz-type or real funky-music place like the Saxophone.
arrrggg - to each his own, I guess. I think Thai food is awesome, and really don't like the food that much in Malaysia (good chinese, that is all!).
By the way, the KL tower is now RM38 (looks like it was RM20 in 2007). Wish my salary increased by that percentage in the past 2 years!
to be honest i found the bridge rather dull. what is it 15-20 minutes and then you are told times up? the angle doesnt help as there isnt a lot to see between the towers.
The old KL station is what i call A RAILWAY STATION
none of your modern right angled glass architecture crap
thats where i got the sleeper down to sillypore back in 2001 ( i think )
You dont pay them to stay for the night, you pay them to leave in the morning
great pics, thanks - I stayed at a hotel in Masjid Jamek in Oct when i went to Moto GP, will go back to same place in Feb thought it was an ok location good for local transport; had limited free time - made it to Petronas Towers Mon morning intending to do the skybridge . . . aaaagh the only day they close is Monday!
next time . . .
Not read the whole thread so i don't know if anyone has mentioned the police museum.
If they have, I'm sorry for being lazy.
If not, it's a good place to spend an hour or so.
