Onya The gent, you've nailed it in one.It can certainly be an obsticle to ones early morning leisurely pursuits trying to track down the elusive" Full English breakfast. But fuck it a bowl of cornflakes will suffice, thankfully beer is easier to find in Malaysia than bacon. Moderate mossies the Malays. Never had any dramas there

As far as Beer goes the Malaysians leave Thailand for shit. Many good strong brews for a fair price.

Except in Pubs where one will pay a wedge.

Langkawi is brilliant for drinks with its Duty free status.

As far as Malaysia being boring goes, can't agree with that one.

Aint no Thailand but OK all the same.
I do not give Patsycat " The Horn " thank Fuk.

As a side note, you can rent cars and motorbikes right at the port the ferry arrives at. Easy. Go around the island. Didn't see any photos of the Black beach, which is not about some oil accident, the sand is black there.

Looks nice. Like others I always heard it was boring and skipped it for places like Bali. Given the proximity might give it a look if I am still in the area much longer.

You don't go to Langkawi for the nightlife, put it that way.

Stay in Pantai Cenang and hire a car to get around the island; it's a pleasant place to visit for a few days with lots of decent food options around Cenang.

Dillinger, may I ask - what's is the name of the gaff you stayed at? Looks good, and we should be down there in July/August.

The last time we were in Langkawi we stayed at a small 'resort' about a 20 minute walk from the beach, near the Mexican restaurant (damn fine food!). Scootered around for the best part of a day and found a deserted beach, did some go-karting, bought a massive 2 litre bottle of Smirnoff and got hammered.

Great place for a family or couple, for a few days.
