    What's your rent a month?

What does it cost to sling yer 'ook?

    What's the amenities?

    Where are you at?

I'm forking out 8K in downtown Pratunam, which is close handy to Vic Mon, Panthip, DK's head office, World Trade (not that I ever) BTS therefore Nana, Cowboy, Bull's Head, Patpong.

It's a large one room but the balcony is bigger than the average Thai room.

I pay 200Baht for uninterrupted phone connection for the internert, elec is cheap but the killer is VAT an exra 350 baht for fuckall.

I get about 25 channels of nonsense provided free (AXN, ABC, 3 indian channels, 1 from bahrain, and 4 from china oh and don't forget the disney channel )
These I can run through the PC while the big TV has got me gold package UBC.

I live on Cowboy and pay 19k a month for about 95sqM.

Its bloody convenient as I can walk to work (5 mins) and I can laugh at the mingers that you lot take home whilst waiting for the elevator.

I love it here, as it's quiet most of the time and it really feels like home.

I got two places. One detached 150 sq.m. house, bought and paid for, out in the burbs for weekends (clean air, peace and quiet, gardening for those who like that sort of occupation.. not me!)
For workdays got a 300 sq.m. furnished townhouse on three floors, office on ground floor, 2nd and 3rd used as living quarters for me and da live-in.
The house comes with garage, pool, security. It's 3 BTS stops down from Emporium - all for 7.5k/mo. phone and electric at cost, water is included in rent.. all in all not a bad deal but being a stingy b.astard i'm looking forward moving permanently into my rent free gaff as soon as charlie is done extending the bts line near(ish) the other house in 2007(?), I got a car but hate driving and prefer the skytrain.

For all you one-roomers that plan staying/renting in the LOS for (ever or) a lengthy period of time the multiroom houses and apartments are out there..so.. get out, pound the pavement; many places do look like shite but nothing a few hands of paint wont cure and to redo the kitchen/toilet the cost isn't prohibitive.. provided you plan to stay a few years, have a minimal amount of start-up dosh and are not afraid of direct hiring a few workers (and running out to buy the required materials) to redo your digs over a period of a couple/few weekends.

Significant are the psychological benefits (and often the $ savings) of living in a multiroom place vis a vi a the Studio thingy (for me at least; I too was a studio-dweller for a few years).

Of course buying your own place is the best way to go (I know it takes a great leap of faith to do such a thing with how discriminatory property laws are set up here to keep/make things difficult for the 'little' farang buying..) and you should NOT buy until you are not properly set up and have a good understanding of how things work here i.e. good continuous(?) income stream, lost the taste for the 'put in my name' bgs or savvy enough not to, found your trustworthy (yeah! took me 11 years and still I’m looking over my shoulder) 'put in my name' significant other and found some great (great=relatively cheap compared to $ required in the 9-5wastelands) real estate deal

Do buy local real estate only if you think you have the testicular fortitude to live here for a great number of years, if you plan to burry your old carcass here, if you are not afraid to loose everything at a drop of a hat and/or if you are not afraid to be put on the next plane out of here (should you be so lucky) for whatever (un)just reason. I know.. a lot of ifs (and I went off topic ..again.. ops

    I pay 30,000 per month.

160sqm on the 17th floor with views from all four balconies of the river and the city.

Building is great with same day service if anything breaks down etc. 30 m swimming pool, sauna, great gym, snooker room, golf room, ping pong room.

2 bedrooms, 2 bath. Main bedroom is 70m2 with huge windows and great views especially with the fireworks going off at the 5 start hotels 1km away.

Am I paying too much? Yes. However as I knew I was only going to be here for around 9 months plus I work out of home I wanted something nice. Plus it's still cheaper then a crappy house back home.

Got a four bedroom castle for 11,000 Baht a month near the IMAX.

Got it furnished with lovely furniture (teak stuff) and there's loads of room. 4 stories, 2 balconies, new kitchen with a roof you can open, open roof to sunbathe on, laundry room, lounge, dining room, 4 big bedrooms, attic storage room nice driveway with gate etc. Can't complain at all.

Hoping to purchase a house round the corner shortly.

Nothing, ...but for this (approximately) 900 square foot place... 1 big bedroom, 2 small, big livingroom, 1 bathroom, big kitchen/laundryroom...I'd say it wouldn't be more than 3000-3500 baht a month to rent.

But this is in Khon Kaen.

    Good thinking Alex.
I didnt think I should take part in this thread coz I aint there.
But just fer fun I will join in.
I pay around 22,000 baht (equivelant) per month for a small two bedroom apartment with views and a small balcony here at the resort.
It was only ever gonna be temporary but I have now been here for coming on a year. Good little kitchen, good sized bedrooms with built ins and mirrors  and a living room that is definitely furnished by a bachelor. (No womans touch.)
One way or another I wont be here much longer but I have to say that it has been a nice place to live. I cant stand Brisbane much longer though. Too many dickheads, fokheads and rednecks, not to mention the abo's.
Anyway, here are a few piccy pics.

Pound the pavements eh! Don't they have a copy of the Loot for those us us with bunyons on our feet? Now the last time I lived in the LoS I was pampered, cos I was given a company apartment down the road from the Nana, so I'm not experienced in trapsing around BKK looking for property. The last time I tried I ended up at Wallys place, which was nice but I didn't think I'd get much sleep what with him banging his gals up against the adjoining door & them screaming all night.

Which pavements should I pound then? Directions please. I really would prefer a multi-room place at a reasonable rate *whatever that means*, just til I find a nice Condo apartment to purchase.

You shouldnt be ashamed of where you live mate. Any reasonable member knows that London is expensive and on your meagre wages I think that you have done well mate. Dont be shy Harry. You are a well respected member here mate. You wont be judged just by the fact that you reside in a hovel.

Do you want some psp tips mate?

Nah its in Chacheongsao about an hour east of BKK - I can get into BKK city center by bike faster than most people can get a taxi around BKK.

Ill post some pics later when I have time.
