mine is 790baht per month, with maxnet, but I bought my own router as I didn't want to be tied into a contract with them.

I've actually been pondering the same thing. Cable modem? DSL? Wireless? What's available here? I live in an apartment, so will my choices be more limited?

True for B790, ends up being about B830 with tax and the other usual BS.
    100.0Mbps. 24/7.
You need a direct phone line.

I have a direct phone line, however my apartment is inside a guesthouse in Jomtien. So the phone line only dials reception (I think). Will DSL work? Do cable modems even exist here?

View Talay 5 old bean. Later in the year when finished. Want to know how much it will cost me to get techno'd up as I love cable TV and the internet . Need to know phone line costs as well. Cheers.

I guess so far we have a monthly fee of around 800 baht for internet, how much for installation of a phone line and internet connection? Thanks...

The maxnet is pretty good, 256kbs, been downloading 24/7 while surfing, got 3 pcs connected to it, I only problem I ever had was when I used Ghost Surf to hide my proxy and then forgot to switch off and the proxy started dieing on me the next day, phone line is 2800baht I believe.

you need a faster connection than 256kps,surely?

it would take me ages to send & receive large files on that.

Do you have True, CSLox & TOT ADSL in Jomtien, DD?

Are they priced the same as BKK?

I'm sure the 790 baht maxnet package is a 512 kbs connestion, I pay 590 for my 256kbs connection.
^ Unfortunately , True and CSLOX are only gettable in the heart of the city at the moment.

Guess I'm probably screwed, then. May have to pony up 7500 for the wireless device. Unless there is such thing as a cable modem here?

I was advised to go for the Maxnet4life not the basic Maxnet so that I get more bandwidth for me not to share.

None of the asdl providers give the service you are contracted for a dont think. Too many connections on True I know that. I never reach the speed I am supposed to be connected at.
I havent heard of a cable connection yet in Thailand.

Okay, so wireless is the way to go (at least for me). How fast is it? And which company(s) do I go through to get it set up? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm a total newbie at this and want internet at home as soon as possible.

I personally use True's 790 Baht package. Unlimited access and no problem with sending or receiving files.

I think they still have the promotion (it was two weeks ago)! Get an internet connection and they'll install free phone for you within a week.

I am sure you don't have 100 Mbps. That's just the speed of your LAN connection but your DSL is much slower.
The fastest I can get here is 16 Mbps.

In some areas of Jomtien all those are available, the prices i have no idea,
I was lucky with mine as there were only 2 spots left when I got mine, otherwise I would have to waited months and months
