    Thai banking question

Hi, I have a bit of a banking situation. Our house in Pattaya sold and the transfer is next week My wife's sister is doing it for us via power of attorney as were back in Maryland. The potential problem is the buyer is coming with a check in my wife's name from the bank they are borrowing from and the realtor says that sister won't be able to do anything with it. Is that correct? I thought she could deposit it then wire us the money. We have a few acounts at SCB in Pattaya Could try to deposit the check in one of those and hope the money is still there in January when we return but that seems a bit dicey.

I would really appreciate any ideas. Trying to avoid a trip back to Thailand.

    thanks, mike
