Chico I've known Loytoy since 1999, if you want confirmation ask him, I'd have 2 or 3 afternoon sessions a week in Jools on soi Nana when Big Dave had it, I wouldn't get much change out of 10k baht and that was just for the afternoon before the real drinking started. Money was easy to make back then I had my own business and made more money than I could spend although I had a damn good go.
BB wasn't that 18 yrs ago, jeez in my drunken stupors in them days 20k was a norm, god forbid if I did it now with the exchange rate.
There you go then getting through 200k baht a month didn't take much effort.

One hopes that if the numbers don't add up for the Thai move the OP will move else where and stop posting here.
b/s abounds on these anonymous forums, some have a honda wave and others a bicycle as their main form of transport and go out in shorts and flipflops and put a singlet on to dress up and want to pay 500 baht a night for accommodation when away from home
Its called living in fantasy land when posting on forums
Who in their right mind would disclose how much they earn or don't earn on a forum, you people and your claims are over the top, my only income now a days is about 375K baht every three months in interest plus share dividends, i must be poor compared to you lot but i am sure i am not

^I guess.. sorry I asked the question.. on an apparent thaicentric forum.. go figure.
Depends on where you live in BKK, it seems like 10,000+ is a reasonable amount to get a nice pad to live in; although all the better international schools will give you a housing allowance while some will provide accommodation. Personally I feel that 50,000 would be enough to survive on, but it would hardly be living it up. In the outskirts I spent about 30,000 baht a month all in and banked the rest of the salary. Here in Mandalay I spend between 600-800USD a month and save way over half of my salary. It'll be interesting to see if I can do that in my next destination
^^Thanks Mandy.. I have many friends in BKK, who I'll also speak to. Have a nice day!
There have been several of these threads before, it's like asking how-long-is-a-piece-of-string. It all depnds on location & lifestyle choices.
I don't believe one "needs" 100k or even 50k, how many of the millions of Thais in BKK have that sort of income?
I have not spoken to any foreign teachers in Phuket for awhile but they were earning about 4 years ago between 15 to 30K baht a month if they could find any work
The only exceptions were teachers at the British International School and similar schools and they were qualified to work as teachers anywhere in the world, they did not get their diplomas of a scam internet site but a teachers training college in Places like Australia, UK, USA etc
^Yes.. folks like myself. Competition is pretty high for those jobs, and many of the schools hire in the west.. not all though. There are quite a few international schools in Phuket now it seems.
I have no budget and my wife has free access to the money i keep in our house, i withdraw 100K baht from my bank account at a time for household expenses so its very easy to work out what i spend a year
Everything is owned house, contents vehicles etc and i stopped going to bars about 35 years except to meet someone on the odd occasion for a social drink
Last year i withdrew 500K baht for household living expenses
I also bought 2 new vehicles and went to Australia for Business/ holiday, i do not consider these expenses as part of my everyday living expenses, i did not really need the new vehicles and will probably keep the ones i bought for 10 years and my son could have sorted out the business dealings in Australia if i had asked him to
Yes. But we're talking about special Farang who find themselves special with their unnecessary lifestyle/cost of living - usually supported by the foreign exchange factor that almost all require for their special and unnecessary existence.
The special reality might shed itself differently if they we're making/spending baht in their special lives.
Comparative/superlative discussions cannot be discussed intelligently, as their insistent and special lifestyles and derived income follows false pretense.
^FOJ. I have my doubts that you could even find thailand on a map.
For OP.
200k per month you will be sweet.
100k per month you will be fine.
50k per month you will be ok.
Less than that, you can live, but it would rapidly get tedious.
