Flip flops for me for indoors and for slow walks of no more than 50 metres from home. Proper footwear for everything else. Up to the Thais how they treat their feet. I just look after my own.

    same here.

and to each his own; but, older expats walking around bkk department stores in flip flops, shorts and a silly t-shirt is like they're reliving their high school summer holidays (or something).

If you need to move fast then flip flops are a hindrance.

You can actually buy flip flop socks, defeats the object really. Then again what is the object...

My standard attire ^. Was even sipping that Grey Goose with those top flight Cons on and my feet are clean, no dirt under and road funk under the nails, no cracked heals and tore up toenails...

JPPR2 do you wear shoes in your House when in Thailand?

If the answer is yes, when you visit someone else's place do you also wear your shoes inside?

What do you do when you go to a Temple? (Assuming you go)

David, no I never wear shoes in house. Once downstairs I seldom go in unless I forgot something but if I do I remove my shoes

I always remove shoes at others homes when visiting but that doesn't happen often. Most our friends always come to our place.

I always just take shoes off. It's really no big deal. Couple of seconds. But in general I don't visit temples here much. Maybe 2 or 3 times a year.

Btw fellow TDrs... My post wasn't to cite a debate about foot attire in Thailand. Wear what one wants. I just find it odd that people will work around heavy equipment, use potentially dangerous tools, move heavy things all in flip flops and yet seem so surprises when they squash a toe or foot, cut them up, get bit or stung or constantly scrub and clean their feet when shoes exist.

Now for people with smelly sweaty feet with various skin ailments Flip flops are their choice. Also if one prefers to never bend over and tie a shoe again, flip flops are a perfect choice.

For me I like the protection. I never use a weedwhacker without foot wear, same when mowing lawn, using chainsaw, welding, die grinding, working on my truck or moto. Of course I do understand that many of you do nothing like that here so flip flops or Adda slip on shoes work for you. Sometimes I forget the audience here.

I will stick with my Cons and Asics thank you very much....

Is it permissible to spank a naughty child with a slipper, er flip flop . Is having your arsed whipped by a flip flop more painful than the cane?

Shiiiiit. I am outdoors doing something everyday. Up at 6. Usually out between 10 and 12. I wish I had time to sit around in flip flops drinking boxed wine. HAHAHA. Actually not really.

I am sensing a bit of envy LuLu. It's ok. Put on your Big C Adda slip ons and shuffle on over to the fridge and pour yourself another top shelf glass of chilled Tesco boxed wine. It's all good man....LOL...

Tomorrow you can post up some more food pics.
