The lovers stood on the bridge at midnight
Her lips were all aquiver
He kissed her once her leg fell off
and floated down the river
“Loy” means “float”, and a “krathong” is a special Thai floating sculpture particular to the holiday. The traditional krathong is made from a cross-section of a banana tree trunk, which is then elaborately decorated with folded banana leaves and flowers in intricate towering designs.
Of course it has evolved for city dwellers in steamy Pattaya where a bucket full of vibrators is launched on a giant pie in the eponymous LOYTOY festival.
