Takiing my beloved Suzi to Thailand

Has anyone taken there motorcycle from Oz to Thailand? I am thinking of taking my Suzi 750CC sports tourer to Thailand next year as I will gradually spending more time there Is it financially doable or is it just better to buy another motorcycle in Thailand, bearing in mind I would want one with a similar capacity. Any help on the subject is appreciated.

I don't know the ins and outs of it but I would think you'd be letting yourself in for a world of hurt.

Importing vehicles into Thailand is a painfully expensive and time-consuming process, and that's not even considering registering them subsequent.

That applies to cars certainly and I don't think bikes would be much different.

They stopped the importation of secondhand bikes a few years back, not sure if this still enforced though but assuming you did manage to import it getting it registered is an expensive world of hurt as it will have to be sent for emissions testing which at Bt.75,000 (non refundable) it will most likely fail and each further test is an additional 75k.

Better the piss it off in Aus and buy a Verysys or ER-6n here.

My bad, just checked some old emails of when I tried to make one of my old bikes legal and it was 45k for the emissions test or 75k for a dodgy under the table green book.

Yu can ride it in for the purpose of touring and transit. Not sure how long you get but you also have to ride it out again. Ride the Suzy there, buy something else here.
