My nearest Home Pro is a no-go area. Can't walk down any aisle without being approached by staff pointing at stuff on shelves l got zero interest in.

You're lucky! I go to HP and struggle to get assistance. Not much English spoken down South and shop staff are terrified to have to serve a farang.

This Home pro is a bit overstaffed. The staff are obviously told to get out there and sell.

Stupid idea. Turns a good few farangs off

Many places are over-staffed, including government offices. Another manifestation of inefficiency, which is a manifestation of not thinking well.

Yeah, but then you choose between that or places where the staff are hypnotised by their phones or have convened to discuss lunch.

I guess HomePro staff must be paid partly on commission, and of the two extremes I pick HomePro. In fairness, a good percentage of their staff are actually quite knowledgeable.

Quality of goods is patchy, with lots of Chinese crap, but I guess that's worldwide now.

I really struggle having to go to Homepro for anything. Its Ok with my wife there as she tells them "Leave us alone" but by myself is hell. Every row has 2 or 3 employees in it. They swarm around you trying to help but for us DIY's types who know what we want I just want to walk in and not be chased around. Its extremely inefficient. I usually only go to local places now for stuff (Occasionally Thai Watsadu). Easier and far more relaxed. Interesting though, It is a 180 from any US business. You cant find anyone and the ones that help you are worthless. Why more people shop online now versus socializing.

But to others points, I do not think Thais are any more stupid or smarter then anyone else. I have met loads of friggen idiots in the west. I work with some really smart engineers here.
