    Living in Thailand

    .
A thread where you can record, detail, post ... whatever of your experiences of living in Thailand.

I'll kick it off below with a game popular in Thailand, but this is your thread.

Share what you see which is everyday (normal) in Thailand, but less so your home country.

Photos, Vids, Stories ... up to you.

The brief is open ended because, after all ... TiT ...

^ Auroria ... thanks for sharing ... in your case ... no photos are required !

BTW, for those a little curious, yes, this is where I live in Thailand with just some of the Extended Family.

No MacMansions here ... I'm only see a white guy maybe once a month at the local LOTUS.

Sooooo ... just a little snapshot of life on the Farm in Thailand, during the dry season.

What have you guys got to share?

Photos, Vids, Stories ... up to you.

....and finding their way onto to your bed [during the heavier rainy season] - especially the smaller red/clay coloured variety, which have a much nastier and potent toxin.

The larger black ones make for great roasting with a hint of prik kee nuu and garlic.

    That farm looks alright David.

Could easily sink 5 or 6 cold ones over looking that every evening.

    Addendum

Having been in LOS for 14 years, 13 in Chiang Mai, I only wish that I had spotted Chiang Rai earlier.
There is a superb Immigration Office, medium population, Central & the traditional food chains & international airport.
    Close to the N/E border.

In Thailand, I don't have the chopper-coppers chasing me for riding my motorcycle through the sticks.

Or have my business drained of tax and vat as it was in the UK.

Seeing so many OAP's shagging and shacking up with women plus 30 years their junior.

Gotta love that sexist shite for sure when I first visited...now I barely pay notice to anyone with a lady their daughter's age.
Somehow I never see older Thai women with young foreign men...maybe that's kept behind closed doors among the gem traders.

FFS are you witnessing this in the street or did you invest in a decent pair of night vision binoculars?

    LOL

You can see whenever these fellows pay the bar fine and when they walk down the street holding hands (how sweet).
On weekends you'd be surprised how many retired fellows can get out on the town with their much younger spouses as well !

I personally know an 80 year old man that's happily married (so he states) to an early-40's wife. Good on him I say if they're happy, dreaming or otherwise.

Seeing elephants strutting on the street guided by their mahoots is a site I've become accustomed to as well...not part of the reality of living in an American city , rural towns or surburbia.

What has physical age got to do with it?

My wife is 31 years younger than me - I am 68. We met when she was 24. This is the best relationship I have ever had or am likely to have. We have never had an argument. I am far more tolerant than in my younger years and now I do not drink - cause of big problems in my younger years. In addition, now I am not a hunter.
Having a physically attractive bed mate who has no baggage makes it checkmate.

About the 'age difference' question, I simply say ... each to their own and, at the end of the day, it's none of my business.

For the record the age difference between me and my partner was exactly the same as between my Mum and Dad.

Back on topic, here is a snapshot of some of the lifestyle that is so different from that which I have in the West.

Until recently, we used to rely more on the boat then the car/bike/bicycle to get around locally.

    I miss those days ...

The first clip is Grandma taking her kids to School and the second two are when I tagged along for the ride.

We live Central Thailand, lot's of water round these parts.

There are lots of canals which drain the flood plain and we connect into that system.

The road access is difficult so we don't get many visitors.

The Farm is a Fish and Prawn/Shrimp Farm, we'll be back there in a month and I'll show the operations of the farm.

Cool Thread idea David I just got my Go Pro Hero5 , I am going to mount on my moto and will post up some video runs of a commute to work if I can figure out how to host it. Yeah it sucks I work I know, rather have a farm and driving a tractor.

I also want a DJI Phantom 4 drone for aerial shots. Wife thinks I am nuts. I said 'Let me die in peace with a few toys"

We do not live to remote like some of you guys do but still live in a small area in the north. I seldom see a foreigner except once in awhile at Home Pro and they always looks pissed off and dress like slobs so I never say anything to them.

Living in Thailand is exactly what you make it, The happy and content folks are the ones that adapted and pay little attention to others and what they think.
