Look at post number 2, dimwit....
It's because the gregorian calendar is the calendar of international business. In much the same way as English is the language of international business. If a country wishes to act on the international stage it must use the gregorian calendar and the English language. As for the holiday, new years are always a numinous time and people celebrate the numinous, especially when they see billions of others doing the same.
CS that's your answer.

OK this geezer changed the date but doesn't give a reason Bob could well be right, but 1941 wasn't Thailand Occupied by Japan
On 6 September 1940, Prime Minister Phibunsongkhram decreed[3] 1 January 1941 as the start of the year 2484 BE, so year 2483 BE had only nine months. To convert dates from 1 January to 31 March prior to that year, the number to add or subtract is 542; otherwise, it is 543. Example:
well done Bob
your a right Sado Nervana searching everyones posts, you really must be a lonely old soul.
Now whats that got to do with the present question
So you can do an internet search for the answer to your question! Well done, sir!Originally Posted by Horatio Hornblower

It was funny at the time and now it's funny again in relation to this thread. Keep it up, Yaso. You're a funny guy.
I was half-expecting you to reply by saying it's a test, that you know the answer but wanted to see if the other members know it too, because you, ahem, live in Thailand and know the score, and others "haven't a clue".
I would go along with Bob, though I can't find the reason why.
And it don't make any sense why Thais go to temple on the 31st
When do most people celebrate white people's new year?Originally Posted by Horatio Hornblower
