    Airbnb

    I was chatting to a Thai girl on Airbnb because I need to stay in Bangkok for a month. First of all she came back with;

    I told her that Airbnb doesn't allow cash deposits. The deposit is a credit card blocked amount which needs to be claimed from Airbnb by the property owner if there is a damage problem and Airbnb will mediate. This seems much better than handing over cash because last time I did that in Thailand I ended up in the police station trying to get it back from someone who thought that my flight later that day was a good reason to try to keep it.

    Anyway I digress. After we cleared up the Airbnb deposit issue she came back with;

    After I refused to do that because it's not my problem to help her rent out a property short term that she isn't allowed to by entering into a legal agreement I don't want she said;

    Does this sound like a bad move?

    Yes. I'd stay well clear

    There's plenty of choice for Bangkok on there

    Why this place?

    What happened the last time you handed over cash?

    Stay well clear. Looks like AirBnB thai lisitings been infested by a real-estate pimp trying bait-n-switch tricks.

    Yearly

    Dont sign anything. There are some cheap apartments around. There are a few near Victory with reasonable rates.

    If anyone let their condo out on such a basis in my building I would have no hesitation in reporting them to the juristic person, the local tax office, the police and immigration police ( in case of farang ownership ) and also bring it to the attention of those responsible for registering hotel accommodation.

    ^Have you checked to see if your building is on the Airbnb website yet ?

    Maybe you should start up a neighbourhood watch program also

    What does she look like, and does she come with the property?
