    Accommodation in Chiang Mai

As a freelancer, I am taking into consideration to move to Chiang Mai.

Would like to know what costs I can expect for accommodation (long term, 2 people, 1 dog) and what would be the best places (online) to start looking for rent (condos, houses, apartments , all options are on the table).

Sounds good. Any known problems with obtaining a rent when looking to arrive with a pet ?

The studio apartments are cheaper but these type of apartments are quite small and don't have any partitions or kitchen areas. Some might have stricter policies regarding pets, though my friend has a cat in her studio apartment. Rules vary. Depending on the size, the rent may range from 8-20K.

Plenty of houses for rent for decent prices outside but not too far from the city, you really want a car though. It'll hard to find a dog friendly house in the city, but in Nong Hoi just over the river, you might find something suitable for a good price (less than 10K THB per month).

The best way is to find the area you like, then look around for 'for rent' signs and try talk to the locals.

Galae Thong condo allows small pets I think, and has plenty for rent for under 10K THB (and over if you want a real nice condo).

A largish house in an estate outside the city can be as high as 20K THB for a basic new house these days but plenty of bargains to be had too. Try stay away from the falang geared real estate companies who imho are a bunch of shysters here in Chiang Mai.

I clicked on this, excitedly preparing a rant, choose houses under 15,000 baht and was pleasantly surprised by the value. Hmmm...

There might be a few diamonds in the rough, but if you think that site provides value in general, you should look more into to CM rental market.
