Thai Goods For Sale On Mobile Stalls

Now this must be one of the hardest jobs around, wandering the streets of Pattaya and Jomtien trying to sell junk that just about nobody wants.

They generally come down from Issan and start off with a hand cart like this one, they probably dream about the day they can buy a motorbike to attach it to, foked if I would walk round all day pushing that thing about in this heat, anyway I shall try to get a picture of the local sticker motorbike guy, his mobile stall is bigger than the average car.

    Thai Cane Products.

Heh heh --- I actually bought one of those sticky rice containers/baskets in Bangers and brought it home with me. Looks cool, and not a bad deal for 50 baht. But I never saw anyone use them in Thailand --- only in Laos.

I like the metal ladder guys. What would make them think that this is something you'd pick up on the road?

    Then there's the broom guys.

    And the floor mat guys.

And then Jomtien beach vendors take it to a whole new level; it would be interesting to try to live a month and ONLY buy stuff from vendors passing by.

They use them in Ratchada too, in the small restaurants.

The fluffy toy guy I caught, and here he is in action in Pattaya selling his wares, doubt if he would sell many in rural Thailand though, mainly seems to be tourists that buy them for their rental girlfriend of the evening.

I posted this earlier on my thread but it deserves a re-do considering the subject matter.

This is the "10 Baht Man". He has about 150 - 200 small bags hanging off this rack on the back of his bike. Everything from a couple of eggs in vinegar, to a couple of soggy waffles, to some bamboo filled with sticky rice, to Isaan snackes, Lao snack etc etc.

Everything is 10 baht. Makes it easy. I've tried a couple of things upon the SiL's insistance... pure crap... but hey he makes a baht.

All the stuff is made locally by his wife or her friends.

Those cnts are everywhere in Pattaya. Patong, too. Annoying when they try to cross the road. I've never EVER seen anyone buy any of their shit.

Ignoring the overweight girlie bike riding Aussie, here is a flower seller, now I reckon this guy gets up before dawn, goes out and nicks plants from peoples gardens, then rides round on his bike selling them to other people, how else can he make money out of this business?

Do you ever wonder about the people with inflatable shite?

Do they blow it up everyday? Who buys it? Do they really make a living off selling them?

Haha --- hilarious observation. I can just imagine the scene if he ever gets caught.

I've often wondered about the inflatable vendors - when he gets home at night does he comment to Mrs Blowup that he's fucked if he's going to deflate all the goods, or just get on and do it? Who on earth buys those dinosaurs and ultramen? The other one that makes me laugh are the sticker sellers. I have had the urge to stop the car and spend 300 baht clearing their stall of goods. I did try it once but the man thought I was mad so wouldn't sell me any.
Has anyone ever seen the solid wooden furniture salesman cum cart pusher. I can see people having their memory jogged by a broom seller, but I just can't picture myself seeing a man with a very uncomfortable looking sofa on a barrow and thinking 'ooh I must get one of those'. They are not an impulse buy are they

There was one that used to come around my old place in Prakahong (Bangkok). It wasn't too bad actually. I thought about buying some of it, but that's as far I got.

Pattaya Soi 8 The Spice Man

Well it is now called Soi 8, it used to be called Soi 17 and went from Soi Thepprasit to South Pattaya, but now they have decided to rename another Soi That has recently been built about a mile down the road Soi 17 and this is now called Soi 8, wouldn't it have been easier to rename the new Soi? Just a thought, probably too simplistic I suppose.

This guy is from Issan, now I know this cos he shouted at me in Issarn dialect as he went past, I normally like to take a few pictures each time and then choose the best, but he was peddling like mad so I only got the one picture anyway he sells garlic, chilli, those little red onions(shallots?) and other spices that cost like 1baht per kilo from a normal supermarket, so he aint going to be upgrading to a motorbike in the near future, then again unless he overcharges he probably wouldn't be prudent to buy petrol to go round selling items of such low value.

    Pattaya sticker stall

The sticker stalls make money, you don't see these guys pushing carts around town, they all got motorbikes attached to their stalls, probably a good mark up in stickers, anyway this is a small one I caught this evening down the 7/11, this afternoon I caught a medium sized one but on my other camera, tomorrow hopefully I can catch a giant one, also want to catch the ladder man, but he's a right cnt, one time I was driving down the hardware store to buy a small step ladder as I couldn't be bothered driving all the way to the camp, anyway the step ladder guy was about 100 meters before the shop I was going to buy one from so I thought I might aswell buy one from him, he quoted me 3 times the normal price, as I drove off he was shouting, "I give discount," I mean it's like fok you I aint gonna waste my time trying to get you down to what the price should be when your starting that high on me.

Here is the man with the medium sized mobile sticker stall, caught him on Soi Theprasit, still aint seen the guy with the gigantic one though, and I think all the ladder ones have been beaten to death over their prices they charge

Here he is selling his wares.

And off he goes with a pocket full of money.

The silk flower seller, these never have a motorbike attached to their stall, probably the flowers get damaged when they get pissed up and drive to fast.
