UBC Changes in Thailand

My UBC selections are all messed up again. What was selection A is now channel whatever.

Additionally now I have to change the language selections for each and every channel each and every time.

Any one else?

My favorite progam Hillbilly Handfishing was supposed to be on and by the time I find it (in Thai) the last catfish had already been caught.

All the channels are different, but no problems with the language that I have discovered. Idiots why to they do this? Its like twice a year. True with no vision would be better.

Yep. Damn irritating. Language not a prob if set in setup, not via the "Audio" button on remote. Biggest pain is setting up favs. Will do later tonight.

I do like all the new pop-up graphics and logos dancing around in the corners obscuring the picture though. The ads from India and the Philippines are super too. I thought one of the benefits of PAY TV was NO COMMERCIALS?

just found this.

Managing director Anat Mekpaiboonwattana said the company will run its business on five key strategies this year.
First, it will add six high-definition and 11 standard-definition channels, chiefly sports and entertainment content, in different packages.
The six HD channels are Motorvision, Outdoor, NBA TV, HBO Signature, HBO Hits and H2.
The 11 SD channels are H+, Channel L, Activ TV, Block A, Sky Theater, Channel 6, Sun Channel, SME Channel, Li, Disney Junior and Disney Thailand.
Each premium customer will automatically get free HD and SD channels.
Platinum package members will now get 23 HD and 119 SD channels, while gold package members will get 16 HD and 107 SD channels.
The offers become available on April 18. The goal is to maintain the existing base of 500,000 subscribers for the premium tier.

The six HD channels are Motorvision......

We had that for a month or so. There are only so many laps of Nurburgring I can watch. Oh and truck drivers...

Excuse my ignorance but how do I "set in setup, not via the "Audio" button on remote?

Menu key, Setup, User Setup, Language Setup, then set all 6 items to English.

If you want to change to Thai when you get to a channel can do with Audio key later. Note, if no English sound track you will get Thai or whatever the program has.

You mean there is more than one channel? Channel 7? That is the only channel SIL likes to watch so that is all I have ever known. Hmmm.... Next time I visit her we shall see. And surely, there has got to be dvr, right?

I'd hate to miss swamp people, duck dynasty, deadliest catch, American Hoggers and a few others. Never watch "regular" tv anymore. Here I am paying $70 to watch 10 channels.

True Vision Channel Changes on Satellite

Seems they've done it yet again. For those paying the 1,700 odd baht per month, the new channel shuffle seems to have dropped HBO. Cinemax - allied with HBO of course - is still there. But it means less choice. Other English-language entertainment channels seem to have disappeared too, or are only available in the Platinum package. BBC World is now on 95 and CNN is on 93 where BBC was before. This might not relate to those viewing via cable - only D2H

Here is a link to the latest shuffle and deletions.

Suspend your disbelief/chastisement. As post above indicates, haven't we actually lost english-language movies/documentaries, only to be replaced with sports and rubbish channels no one wants to watch?

If you want what you've lost it seems they've been re-branded as HD channels - but with same old stuff. Oh, but that will push the monthly bill above 2,000

Isn't that TRUE?

Thanks for that. Problem was that when I pressed the menu button, directions came up in Thai! I got a person who can read Thai to help me and it's now sorted.
