No one is defending the frustrations [sic] of living in Thailand. Who would do that?

Listening to whingers at work, in bars, sitting in the airport, riding on a bus, and/or reading the same predictable crap on forums gets boring and annoying. It gets to where you can feel some asshole approaching in some vaguely public space and you just know he's going to say something like "Stupid, aren't they?" It's like walking around in an enclosed space with people sneezing and coughing all over each other.

Shut the fuck up or go the fuck home. We all know what it's like living here.

We don't all enjoy the preening and whining of "I'm better! I'm smarter!" as a form of social interaction. Generally the whiners of first resort are also racist shit, so there's that.

What do you do, stand outside the Orient Thai head office with a sandwich board?

Why exactly is it your duty?

Thailand is like that dreadful mistake one makes in thinking they have found the woman of their dreams and enters a marriage in which the reality soon dawns that she is a feckless stupid hag but circumstances mean that a release from the relationship can only come at some expense.
Personally, I have tired of asking myself " surely they can't be this stupid ". The truth is, they can and always will be.
An entertaining place to visit but living here full time is tantamount to giving up on life in favour of an existence among the imbecilic.

I shall quit this place but like MacArthur, I shall return if only to avail myself of the opportunity to refresh my belief that we westerners are superior beings.

Frankly, any country content to co - exist with the stench of shit and is incapable of developing a controlled pedestrian crossing is ultimately worthless.

If you think people are stupid it only says all the people you meet are stupid. I know plenty of guys who married classier Thai women than they themselves were classy men. Women can come to realize they married a terd just as easily as the man.

With all the things Thais do wrong you might consider all that sh*t somehow works for them. Cultural features that don't work are eliminated by processes. Or the people themselves don't survive as the fittest. Do you think Thais aren't capable of change? How did they get this far?

Have you not heard of civic duty?

A duty to warn others of a danger that is deliberately held from them such as TAT does for tourists?

DO you know Phuket Authorities have stopped issuing traffic fatality numbers? Isn;t that something a family considering a visit should know?

This is a good example of how some on the forum can denigrate twatland to heart's content - agree completely with the assessment.

    Hardly surprising really.

A short while ago I was driving on Phuket at night with headlights on main beam when I had to slam my foot on the brake.

Two farangs walking towards me with absolutely no intention of getting off the road.

Spaced out? Drunk? Blind? I really could not say but they would have seen my headlights long before I saw them.

It must be bad enough collecting dead farangs off the roads without having to count them too.
I see fish. They are everywhere. They don't know they are fish.

So instead of putting a poster on ignore or simply scrolling past their posts, you would curtail the subjects on which they would post?

Isn't that a template for a PC controlled world?

There's quite a bit of this nationalistic posturing, Brits do seem to hate just about everyone else.

It's all very male tribal stuff that is a needed precursor to war, I guess.

For falongs in Thailand who whine constantly, I think the problem is within themselves. They were probably not happy in their home country, nor, in any other country they ever lived in.

Many people go through their entire life whining and blame external places, things, and people.

If you live in a swamp, you need to learn to deal with mosquitoes. It's that simple.

I have lived in several countries besides Thailand, and the trick is to enjoy the good that the country offers, beware of the bad and/or dangerous elements, and ENJOY your life.

    My opinion of course.

    Indeed.
Yet, still don't have the course to see it in themselves.

Sure, there has to be some truth to those who complain are complainers anywhere. But I doubt someone complaining about the circumstances in Thailand is a chronic loser. I knew the first two days I was there it wasn't the place I wanted to settle in.

What if you land in some Third World country and your luggage is ripped off, then you get food poisoning, then 140 taxi drivers ask you if you need a taxi, then you use a public toilet and cockroaches bite your ass as you sit there. At that point you do a cost/benefit analysis. You leave or you adapt. If you can't decide which of the two options to choose the only one left is to remain and complain.

Then there is our being commanded by the senses. I have a heightened sense of hearing. For the most part, but for a few, Thai was the ugliest language I'd ever heard, mainly because so many people are loud and have shrill voices.

It was definitely kind to the eyes. It's a lovely country and the people are handsome.

Watching them eat with their mouths open kinda bothered me.

It was my friendship with others, mostly Brits, that made it fun. I was lucky enough to be well connected with the local lawmen and immigration. That's a plus.

The danger of sharing the road with haphazard Thais, mostly boys, was the biggest challenge.

As opposed to the gentle, lilt of the Koreans and Japanese, the enjoyable brogue of the Chinese, the lullaby-like sounds of Greeks or the clear and soft sounds of a Welshman or a Scotsman having a wee chat ?

Never been to Europe but The Koreans and Japs aren't as bad IMO. It has something to do with the Thai timbre. It's edgy. But in my experience when I did come across a Thai babe with a nice pleasing voice I valued it mucho.

Good Grief. Where in the hell did you land? Is this what happened to you upon arrival? If so, you must have had a "Kick Me" on your back or maybe a bulls-eye on the front.

Never had luggage ripped off or even rifled through.

I find that the Thai language is easy on the ears and I rode on a lot of public transportation. Chinese is by far the worse, Vietnamese a close 2nd, Tagalag third, Japanese...take it or leave it but mostly leave it.

Never had a cockroach bite my ass.

Never had 140 Taxi drivers asking me to go somewhere.

    Never had food poisoning.

As for driving...Christ there are friggen idiots everywhere. I found that Thais drive WAY better then probably 80% of the people in the US. I never hit my horn or yelled at a driver in Thailand but in the US I was dodging more idiots and had more near hits then anywhere I have ever driven.

I personally find Thailand and its people quite pleasant and easy going. Interesting comment CT

Compared to the Khmer/Surin Khmer guttural gawf, Thai is pleasant to the ear..

I find Thai quite pleasant on the ear actually- blimey, those that don't should try visiting southern China. Then again I live in the Thai colony of Isaan, and the coarse dialect spoken here is quite different to the gentile tones of the central Tai.

Not necessarily no. Like I said about something else recently, when you try to summarize a large group of people in one single, lazy sentance, you will invariably be more wrong than right.

Every individual person would need to be judged on their own merits. You would need to ask questions like, how often do they moan. How aggressive is their moaning. In what context is their moaning and what triggered it etc etc. You could then perhaps grade those people somewhere between one and ten on the moan scale.

People who were nearer the one would probably be happy, normal people just having the odd moan. People nearer the ten would be the people who would undoubtedly be better off leaving the country asap.

A person who occasional points out how frustrating living in Thailand can be, and the person who shouts "I FUCKING HATE THAILAND" all day every day, can not possibly be judged in the same way.

I would guess that there are far more people who moan on forums that have a logical claim that they shouldn't have to leave Thailand, than their are people who have a logical claim that they should. So the OP in my opinion was inaccurate.

But we're talking about people who had already settled there and then realised it was the wrong place for them. Blaming the country for that defies logic.

It can't possibly be the countries fault that some people aren't as astute as you obviously were, and made poor decisions.

If anybody has any evidence that proves they had a gun to their head when they settled in Thailand, I will beg their pardon.
