22 degrees for me in the bedroom only ,, about 6 hours per night.

Interesting. I have noted some Asian girl's strong aversion to any fan blowing on them but have never had a really convincing answer out of them about why that is. They just say it makes them ill.

I prefer a fan to aircon if I can get away with it. Which is fortunate since my house does not have aircon.

Funny how dogs like sticking there heads out of car windows at 50mph, but you blow in their faces and they go nuts. It's probably the same thing with Thai birds while they are trying to suck a tennis ball through a kinked hosepipe

I never liked fans back home even with no AC but here in Thailand the last couple weeks I need at least a fan to move the crazy hot air around a little. It tricks me into thinking it is a tiny bit cooler than the furnace it has been. Still no AC and probably won't have AC for a good long while yet as we are still remodeling our bedroom/Sauna to accept a decent AC system.

IMO, your friends don't know what the hell they are talking about OR they are Thai because Thai's can do it. I don't know how though.

When I first came here 3 years ago I had the air set at 20 but I must be getting a bit acclimatised now. Having lost 30 Kgs also helps!
Please tell me how you lost 30 kgs. I'm trying hard, but what little I've lost is hell.

They can do it because they (the Thai's) mostly live outside. They find a nice shady, breezy spot and set up a hammock or a raised platform and spend most of the afternoon there lounging about returning to the house only to sleep once the sun goes down.

I live in my In-laws Thai style house and in the afternoon it is like a furnace in there nobody stays inside too long during the day.

I built my house 3 years ago and put 10 inches of insulation in the ceiling and 3 inches in the walls. It's in full sun all day and about 3:00 it's so friking hot the leather sofa is warm. I have insulated curtains to keep the sun out, but 95 degrees and no air stiring, it's hot. If a breeze comes up, it's hot too, so no help.

you can only insulate from the rays of the sun, not from the air temperature!

    unless you have aircon

I have noticed the same. Most things in the house are hot to the touch. I have never experienced that effect before. Like everything becomes large heat sinks with nowhere for the heat to go. Even my fan. The motor gets so hot that it just blows the hot air from the motor around. Seems like an overlooked design flaw to me but what do I know.

Has anyone had a look at these from Dyson

They are not cheap though, around 5000 baht for that small one in the pic.

They give out a lovely stream of cool air though, and have no blades in view for kids to stick their fingers in.

Instead of dust-collecting adulateur blades, these customized air circulators use advanced technology within order to deliver a reviving itself breeze of incredible air. Using Air Multiplier technology, the Dyson bladeless fan pulls in the surrounding air coupled with expands that air from 15 into 18 times.
Just about every single second, the electric motor at the platform of the lovers processes over 3 gallons of air, amplifying it moreover the surrounding the air in your memory to make individuals feel instantly less warm. You can’t see where the air is coming from, but a person will can surely genuinely it.
Boasting three distinct styles, the Dyson pollution multiplier fan placed offers something on behalf of everyone. Involving fans feature multi-ply fan speeds, tip capabilities, and 90-degree oscillation.
Dyson’s own information website page states that “an energy efficient brushless motor” draws each air in with similar technology second hand in “superchargers with jet engines”, both of which begin using blades! Often the fan blades are probably in the base of this unit, they take in air and blow it out the ring. Specifically because you can’t see a fan, can we call our computers bladeless, or an breathable air conditioner bladeless?

    It's probably some Malaysian lah
At least they do try and write English

Thinking about it, I was in an air conned shopping mall when I tried that fan out. They get a load of bad reviews on Amazon. Glad I never bought one now
