I would have it done the next time she is in Thailand. The longer you wait the more difficult they make it for you to get one. Like I got mine in my 30's and they required me to bring in my mother, do a DNA test, and have two Thai nationals swear I am a Thai national, and I was born in Thailand to a Thai national mother, in a Thai hospital, with a Thai birth certificate. Seriously, just get it done as soon as you can. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ^^Yeah. Sounds about right. Took me TWO years to get my ID. Every time I went over, tried to do it. They said I was missing something. Next time I went, they said I was missing something else. After two years, finally got it. My half brother had it in a year (two trips). He doesn't have U.S. citizenship, so...I guess for a while he was stateless... |

So if she makes it back to Thailand next year when she's 16 and goes to get the ID with her Thai passport, house book and mother she might still get hassled I take it ? So cut to the chase ... 500 baht sound about right to grease the skids? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks. Whenever she does finally make it back to Thailand I reckon the simple fact she has a Thai passport ought to be a clue as to what her country of origin is. Starting to wonder why I'm even worried about her ID card anyway. |
