Correct address for posting to Blighty

Just been told by the bloke in the post office that I should use GB and not UK for my letters.
He reckons that the Thailand code UK means Ukraine.

So if you want your letters to go direct and not via Russia then use GB and not UK.

"United Kingdom" should be OK.

According to country abbreviation websites Ukraine is UA but TIT.

I always use GB,cos that what it has on the stickers you put on the car.

I use UK, because it's correct and if a Thai said not to, then I can;t think of a better reason for doing so.

I just put United Kingdom and tell the guy 'Angrit'. He then writes it in Thai. Average delivery 4-5 working days.

Try "Her Majesty's Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland".

Even if the letter fails to arrive in Blighty, there's the consolation it will piss off some paddy postie sgould it find its way to Ireland.

When i write to my father i always put 'His Majesty' at the start and ENGLAND at the finish.

No failures as yet.
