    Thai Police Arguments

    Hi all,

Another guy here in the UK married to a 30 something Thai girl from a tiny village out near the Thai - Burma border, is having a few probs.
When he and his wife have any arguments at all, no matter how heated or calm, his wife calls the police.

She isn't like most of the Thai women ive seen here, very very naive and from what my wife says never really ventured out of the village she lived in back home. She didn't attend school at all and is learning new things everyday. My wife is even teaching her and i didn't think that would be a sentence i would ever type about my wife, unless it was teaching her how to buy countless amounts of dated clothes and garbage from charity shops.

Anyway, this is obviously causing him alot of issues. Neighbours are far from impressed and his family are loosing there rag with her too.

So he wants to know if its normal. His wife has told him that in Thailand / her village the police will intervene and negotiate when there is a family argument or problem. Hence she calls them. My wife agrees with this. So i wondered is that right?? My wife says because of this girls lack of education, to her, calling in the police, is like asking an elder to intervene??

So i just wondered if the Thai police do that??

The UK police make it worse by ending all conversations by saying "dont hesitate to call if you have a problem" hence it continues.

In the village the Poo Yai Ban or an Elder solves disputes. Police would be rarer.
Mine used to think she could call the city council any time she had a problem..
I'm sure the local plod will soon get jack of it, or nick him for spousal abuse.

Your wife could be a bit more helpful and tell her not to call the Police unless he threatens or uses violence.

She has now, we have only just met them. So its the first we knew of it. No fighting or violence, well not from him anyway! She just calls them and expects them to sort of negotiate between the two.

Quite amazing that the police are being so good about it. Could imagine some forces would call it a waste of their time and let her know that.

Good your missus is giving her the right advice anyway.

do you have an example, what these arguments are about?

and the police really listens to all that ("do we buy a mazda or a toyota", "your cooking is awful", etc etc) and give advice?

im wondering, if i would call the police every time, if they wouldnt usually judge in my favor...

what is the result, when the police was there?
does your friend then just shut up after it, and give in?

    ahahahaha... then no wonder...

the police visits mustnt be a success story for her...

Yep, they know they're going to get a tip/present out of it so they do get involved if asked.

if she calls the police, i would go to a pub, far away...

and then she can take the whole brunt... will be alone, when they come, and can explain in all detail what happened...

the police might search me in the pubs, they could invite me to and take me and her to the police stations... i would play dumb and say i would know absolutely nothing about the whole matter... i would look at her utterly astonished "what are you talking about?"... "jeez, dear, why did you never mention, that you are unhappy about something"...
i would prolonge the whole thing till eternity, if necessary...

i wouldnt mind anything at all... i would let it escalate to the moon, if needed...
ok, i probably wouldnt bother anything about such a relationship anyway...

and he buckles in, even before she calls...
or does she speak so good english, that she can manage all that, just being out of the jungle?

Yeah thats what i said to my Mrs, they are about everything and anything. Normally about the fact she has done nothing all day while he has been at work. He comes home and house is a mess, no cleaning done, nothing. Now its not like he wants a slave and cooks, cleans and washes himself too, but i think he wants some help.

She calls them anyway, give in or not. She says they will decide. Yet everytime they never do, but she still calls.

Dont really know him that well yet, seems decent enough, is a sales manager, nice house, car job, Mrs is very polite and is lovely when we see her.

Everything else is fine she just hates arguing and calls everytime.

Take her for a visit to mum and dads (hers) in the jungle. Pop out for a packet of fags and keep going is my advice.
Why on earth would he take a girl from a jungle village to civilization in the first place?

she is bringing all private matters between married people into the public sphere with this...

maybe your friend will find out, if he can live with this fact...
if not, he might indeed have to go for some fags...

What he does is irrelevant to me, dont really know them well enough to care. Was just surprised the Thai police would get involved in such a non event.

I guess as mentioned the "tip" makes all the difference!

I reckon he should change the number for the police on her phone to the suicide helpline.

I don't think the police will clear up much; better she call a local cleaner

It is the tip. Usually, Thai police won't be bothered to stop a Thai man from beating his wife even if they see it. We called once when some drunk Thai fool was beating his wife half to death and the cop asked, " What can we do about it?"

As everyone knows police are scum. Calling police scum is the ultimate violation of trust.

100% must dump her. Only larger problems can follow.
