If you've got free time and money, life isn't so bad upcountry. But there's no western food in a lot of places. I can't find simple breads even in Sisaket city half the time. Sometimes they have stuff in the BigC and some times they don't. No soundtrack theaters in Srisaket or Surin as far as I have seen. Not as many beer choices.
she said she doesn't mind being insulted by someone lowly like yourself
her words, not mine
my words would be more along the lines of "fuk off you boring kunt"
I'll apologize in advance to all those happy and content up-country dwellers but it seems to me that a lot of internet forum members who are stuck out in rural oblivion slowly lose their minds and based upon some of their posts.
These so-called adults sneak around hiding behind multi-nics, stalking other members, dishing up stupid one line posts and generally trying to disrupt other's threads.
If that's the price to pay for trying to find rural serenity I'd prefer to stay near a city and retain my sanity.
This is not an American phrase; you have been influenced by our Northern English posters; this is a positive move, in a few years you can work on Southern English, and at this point you will be much closer to God.Originally Posted by Boon Mee

I love living upcountry very quite and slow paced compared to Bangkok.I Love the house we have built and my pool is great, don't miss the ocean and beaches as much.We still get down to the ocean once a year.More and more people are moving upcountry and land keeps going up.Bigger stores being built all the time like Homepro,Gobal house,Thai Wattido, and Tesco Lotus's going up all over.We still lack the fast food places but I really don't miss them. You can make all those things youself.Life is great when you are retired and have all the time to do the things that are important to you.Wish we had kids to enjoy as well.
Would not anywhere be better than living in Bangkok
We live in Rawai at the southern tip of Phuket , Nice and quite compared to other places here but not to far away from anything

Change the name to "Bangkok Flooded" because thats all you ever hear. I don,t mind a couple of days in Bangkok or even sometimes a few days in Sin City down on the coast, but after 4/5 days it becomes I have had enough.
To much wasted time and energy when there are more important things you could be doing.
Five months in Bangkok and seven months in Pattaya was long enough to tell me that there are much better places in Thailand to live and raise your family.

I have reported your post
I've just been to Villa on Thonglor and initially thought I was in bread heaven. On closer inspection it was mostly stale, poorly baked half loaves of over-priced rubbish.Originally Posted by Hampsha
