Barbecue Gas bottles. Can I import them?

I have some 9 and 18 kg bbq gas bottles I want to bring over from Oz. Am I going to be able to get them filled here or are the fittings not compatible?

Why would you want to go through the expense of bringing gas bottles over from Oz ?

As far as I know the fittings are the same as I have a Barbeques Galore BBQ and required no additional hardware to connect the bottles.
No idea why you would want to ship your bottle's though as they are dirt cheap here.

I was talking to a friend the other day and for him to have a gas bottle installed in his kitchen, the price was 8000 baht.

Is that a rip off ?

Doesn't matter if they are compatible or not.
    They won't refill them.

I've got a "only used once" picnic bottle that I bought here in Thailand.
    They won't refill it

When I was in west Aust I had a fork lift that ran you had to get a refill from
Those theaving cuk westfarmers, so I put the gas bottle on the back of the truck & fill it at the garge it cost bugger all.

Anyway back to the thread I don't think that they refill you exchange them.

Nope that was for a new customer.
Bottle deposit was 900 baht plus whatever the gas costs (about 200 baht)

Take them back to the shop
You should get a percentage of your deposit back (well that's how it works in UK)

Might want to check with the freight forwarder 99 to see if the shipping of a NG cylinder will require any HazMat certification.

I shipped a 40 ft container from the States. I had a new Bar BQ grill still in the box shipped but did not ship a NG cylinder. When I got to Thailand, I just paid a deposit for the NG cylinder with gas but the fittings on the Bar BQ had to be redone to fit the Gas cylinder.

Yeah my first BBQ here was a seppo one, it too had to have the fittings changed, no issues with the Aussie one I have now.

You should consider having a yard sale before you come. Keep the essentials and memorabilia. Throw out the rest.
