Trip to Laos March 09

i was in Laos for about 5 days. i used it as a way to enter North Vietnam. i'll go back to Laos later. i wont bother uploading my pictures of the Buhhda park as Chairman mao's has taken the same photos as me.

but i can add later. for now, food. i saw this on the menu in the capital. its called Koi Khai Mod. its Ant Larvae with sticky rice and chili

and then, just as i was heading towards the border with vietnam, i saw the live version on the street stall. i just copied the bus driver and took a handful without paying.

live frogs, toads anyone?

saw this woman, local tribe maybe. she was talking to herself and when she saw me, she starting laughing and talking about her collection of catterpilers. for food or for Lao wine, i dont know.

saw the old town of Xepon which all that remains is the old bank vault. the whole town was flattened during the vietnam war

some vietnamese/laos friendship monument

now i know why Laos buses are slow

never seen so many daddy long legs in one spot before

now i'm in sapa, vietnam so no more Laos pictures yet

Did you get your Vietnam visa in Vientiene?
If so, how long did it take?

For Vietnam you need a Visa well in advance.
