Bungling in the Jungle, Laos, 2018.

So we came back for another visit to see some old friends and have a beer Lao or three.
Here are a few pics of the Tad Fane (Tad Fun as the locals say) trip we went on the other day. It is the highest waterfall in Laos located east of Pakse on the Bolaven Plateau.

I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I loved taking them. The place is pretty cool. They have a zip line across the canyon with multiple options such as having tea for two half way across. I opted for the multiple zip line adventure that takes you across the canyon, across the falls and back again. It was only 340,000 kip so not too steep for a once in a lifetime fling on a string.

So here goes the start of what should be a halfway decent travel thread.

Last year I stood on the edge of the falls on the left about knee deep in the cool mountain water. I've been wanting to go back and take a dip in a pool at a smaller falls upstream but din't get the chance yet. We'll see as I hope to get back up there on the ground. The zipline went over the falls pool I speak of I just didn't feel to take the plunge from up there. Not without a parashoot that is.

The first line across the canyon. If you are afraid of heights I don't recommend this trip or the balloon ride we did in Vang Vieng Last go-round.

Gotta go now. We are off to do some things tomorrow. Peace out, Fish.

The roads getting in are very bad. I would say If you wanted to get there go by way of tour van or 4x4. It's a very dusty and bumpy journey. It was for us one of those once in a lifetime sort of days. The place is set up for tourism in that you could take many sorts of adventures. Be it out in the lakes or in the Jungle. Not for the faint of heart though, it's out there if you know what I mean.

We were on a day trip so we decided to take an Elephant ride. Miss fish, bils 6 year old daughter and I went for a few hour treck. Bil didn't want to go so it was just the three of us plus the guide. The cost was 200,000 kip plush I tipped the Mahout an extra 50,000 kip that the guys at the launch pad didn't see.

Here are a few pics of what is left of the place. Sorry I tried to dig up an age for the place but have no concrete info. I was told as old as Wat Phou Champasack. Pardon If I'm miss spelling any of these places.

This was on the side of a cliff. The area is basically a big flat rock on top of a mountain.

I ran across this temple. I'd bet the original statue was sacked when the Siam army showed up after these guys schooled the Champasack rulers army.

Some amazing views from up here. I've yet to review the drone footage but I gotta run. Peeps are waiting for me in the village, Fish.

Miss fish fried us up a little brunch this morning. The greens were fresh off the farm. The pork was purchased the night before from a roadside street vendor. I'll be going back and that's for sure.

This was from a karaoke bar last night. It was the commanders last night off so he took us to three of these places. This was the first one.

I asked if they had any crunchy toad without the bones in it.
The gal replied "They wouldn't be crunchy then would they?"
