Zipline starting point. This was just finished a few months ago. I talked with the guy that did the survey for the zipline. He used a mavic pro for some of the job.
He recommended a hotel for 120,000 kip. Not bad for aircon. We stayed at a different place last time.

I've two tickets back to ORD. This makes it that much more painful.

Well what would you do? I think it was money well spent as we do have intentions of returning. Granted this could have bought a lot of Tulsa Time in town but it ain't me babe.
No no no it ain't me, it ain't me you're looking for.

Cock, cock cock cock. Sil keeps giving me the eye and saying this.
Well what would you do if she said that to you?

As for myself I just smile and nod as I know what she is really saying.

    Fish,

I like it but you know how insects like wood in those parts, what / how are you going to protect it? There's a lot of sap wood on those boards.

Sunrise at "The View" Champasack Laos. This is my recommendation if one plans on touring the ancient city of Vat Phou.

Good point, I'll look into the insects issue. I'm not too worried though. This place was built with wood that is supposed to withstand termites ect. From what I've been told I think the large beams are "mydoo?" and or mysock.

If I had to do it all over today I would have done the upper elevation in concrete. It would be alot cheeper these days that's for sure. Folks that come visit seem to like the wood though.

The guy that did the room up said this place will be here for another half century at least.

Now back to the travel pics.

Sunrise over the Mekong from The View resort. 200,000 kip per night. He said 220 but for me a deal. He could have said 300 and I'd have paid it. Gotta love this place.

After dinner we chatted for several hours as he called us over to his table and offered up beers. The owner is real nice as is his Loa wife. He is Thai btw. He had a few good building stories pertaining to his resort. Like bringing a Thai crew over. That didn't fly for long.

Said some Loa guy rearended his suv. The cops said it was his fault as if he'd have stayed in Thailand it wouldn't have happened.
    Just saying folks, buyer beware.

I think the effect is great. I love wood, its just the maintenance and unfortunately in the tropics as well all know its just a food source - hopefully yours is proofed but you can always take steps to treat or guard against the little buggers eating you out of house and home.

So if I leave these shit infused Croft and Barrow wet mocks does it mean I'm bound to return?

Well not by any logical laws in my state...

The place is a bit of a mess now. We are bugging out in a few days so it's what it is.

As for the structure I've been reassured that it is sound

Hey, it's like an Amish barn and as Robert Plant said it's nobody's fault but mine.

I recall it clearly. They asked what do you want to build this house out of?

Well being the knuckle punch I am and sticking to what I know wood was the answer. I could have done worse.

I almost miss the place already. It makes a great base camp for exploring the area. We'll see how it holds up over time.
