This random machinery pic was from on the island of Don Kho. Weaving is a popular thing there.

Ain't that fantastic, its a sad fact that most of what we see in pictures like this will be gone in the next generation or two, either because its not profitable or the younger generation just are not interested - make the most of it I say - love Lao as a county and its people, so peaceful.

Seeing the Lao ladies with their white shirts, skirts and umbrellas cycling is an abiding memory for me...

As far down stream I as I was willing to go as the bank got steep and the brush thickened. Then I thought to myself I've been to that temple before via a motorbike.

Spent a bit of time a few years ago playing guitar with the young monks.

They have several racing boats in one outbuilding there. I recall posting a pic in the in and around Laos thread awhile ago.

Cheers, hope you enjoyed the pics and commentary. Gotta run for now, fish.

Thanks, I was pretty crappy at this sort of thing until I saw some other posters threads years ago.

They made me look at things a little differently you could say. Like really slowing down, often outright stopping to smell the roses so to speak.

I like the reflections of the mountains in the water on this one. Its taken at the alluvial sand deposits where the creek behind the fish crib meets the Mekong.

It's really not so much any special skills, just good scenery. These are untouched from an old cell phone I just happened to have with me that morning. Just upload and paste. I'll try to find some more cool ones while I have Idle time. Gotta run again, fish.

Oh, the creek was pretty much dried up and that's how I could pass by here. Sometimes there would be 15 to twenty feet of water over this spot during monsoon season. Yea, I couldn't be standing here then.

the fish would be swimming. haha.

I'm not qualified to make that assessment as I didn't look into the curriculum at this particular school or any other for that matter. I just stopped in and strolled around the courtyard. The place looked rather Colonial in that respect. I only asked the gal at the gate if I could take a look around to wich she had no problem. I just stayed long enough to take a look around and say hi to a few kids ect.

The grade school across the street looked real nice and fancy. Even had a little fenced in playground. I'll dig up a pick when I have time. I recall it had some info on the side of the building. I thought of a few posters at that point and even thought about looking into myself. But hell, I never said I was an English Major. Ha ha.

This is all I found. I didn't take pics of inside but it was real nice looking. Modern ect, lots of artworks and the rooms were cheerful, not drab.

I'm not sure what they meant by the "slow children playing" sign. I'd bet they were the sharpest knives in the drawer.

    Just guessing.....

I must say I've a lot to learn about the drone. Seems when uploading the picture blurs and is choppy. Oh well at least I tried.

Anyway this is from the New zip line zone at Si Phan Don, Li Phi Falls Laos. It's on the island of Don Khon. We put the CBR side car on a pontoon boat and motored over to the island of Don Det. Then drove down south over the old French railroad bridge to Don Khon. The tracks are long gone but two old Locomotives have been left behind and are on display under Cabanas on the islands. They make nice backdrops for selfies and the like.

Had BIL pose with the sidecar just so he could prove he can get you there. We'll if you're crazy enough to take a side car from Pakse that is. You'd be surprised he said at how many folks ask him to take them places. Like the Xe Pain National Bio-Diversity Conservation Area. Talk about Xe Pain, for the love of Buddha I say take a Toyota.

Anyway, this place was cool as hell. It has no less than seven long lines, a few bridges and a place on the north side of the falls where you do a little trecking and stop for photos if you still have batteries left in the Go Pro, yea mine died. A rookie mistake that really sucked because on the way across one of the foot bridges some crazier than thou were shooting the falls just below us in kayaks. Now that's putting your life in your own hands. You may see the bridge in the video. I saw it in a few passes I made after the zip line tour.

What was cool is we went to the pavilion for a beer to celebrate bils first zip line tour when we were invited over to a group of guys and gals table for beers and a chat. It turns out one of the guys wanted to know what we thought of the zip line. In particular in comparison to the one at Tad Fane. Turns out he did the survey for the zip line and runs a company that works for the Lao government and the Park service at the sight. That's how I can explain it anyway.

So, both great zip lines with different facets with no cons to either. I say say do them both if in the area. This one was I think was like 30usd while Tad Fane was a bit more. Peanuts in comparison to anything in the western world for what you're getting in terms of thrills.

Now we went through some major differences. Tad Fane is over a massive canyon but it doesn't get you on the rocks as much as this place. This has more of a tactile feel in fact there is one spot where the line sags and is so low the guide told me to stop on the little island near the end. He said my 190lbs was just a bit much to make it all the way to the platform and they have the third guide in the group there to push me as I ran off the cliff just to make sure I made it all the way. Yea, Go Pro was dead by then I think. Still haven't sorted through it yet though so I may have it. Enough Talk. One from the drone.

You can see some of the zip lines and bridges in this clip. Remember I'm a rookie. This is the most I've flown this thing since I got it. I should get more familiar with the tracking modes and settings but that would be like work and hell I was on vacation. Someday I'll figure out how to fly the damn thing and maybe even do some editing.

Hope you enjoy the view from above.

    Cheers, the fish.
