It is said to be the oldest archaeological site in Laos and worth a day trip if in the area. The crocodile Stone is said to have been used for the sacrificial lamb so to speak. I don't know that for certain. I'm not that old and or wasn't there in its Hay Day. The museum is interesting if you're into that sort of thing. The site is actively used by the locals as a sort of pilgrimage that one should make at least once in a lifetime. So I am told.

    Peace out.............the fish.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the pics and stories. The one above is from the upper elevation of the Paxutay Monument (sp?) Vientiane Laos. A nice view of the main street. To bad they didn't have the fountains in service. It may be a night time event with lighting ect. It's worth a look if your in the area.

I'll try to put more together in the future as I'm learning how to resize on my travel lap top.

    Peace out, the fish.

Life has it's ups and downs. The torch was lit causing the balloon to illuminate. Kind of cool I thought.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I was considering a "better pics of Lao thread" but this one will do. If only I could post the videos, some day perhaps if I can figure it out. I have some cool stuff on top of Tad Fane. Scary stuff to say the least.

We chose the morning tour. They do an evening one that would put the sun behind the mountains. I wanted to ride the paramotor but it was too windy in the afternoon so I passed. Maybe next time. I could see them in the distance buzzing the mountains as we were in the balloon.

Miss fish is pointing at the truck and group of guys at the drop zone. I have this on video as we skirt ten feet above the power lines. We landed just on the other side of the house on the left. Pretty impressive operation. The line i'm talking about led to the small house on the left all though we were close to the roadside lines as well.

Hero 4 taken while wading through the river at Tad Fane. My tour guide on the right. I recall it's an 800 foot drop at the edge there.

Upstream of the main falls at Tad Fane. This is the place I regret not jumping in at. The boy jumped off the cliff into it. Well over his head. Next time i'm bringing a swim suit and a small towel.

Tad Fane from the tourist viewing area. You can have a Bolaven Plateau coffee and lunch at the restaurant if you like. Or take the road less traveled if you feel adventurous. I wanted to get down to the base of it but it didn't seem the best of ideas from where we were. Peace to all...the fish.

Did you use a "fish-eye" lens for that one?

    It would seem appropriate.

The "funny" thing about the gopro is that it tends to distort the horizon so I've learned to place the horizon at the center of the shot or it looks unnatural. This can be seen in some of the shots here. No kidding, the earth is not as curved as the lens makes it appear. I'm getting better at it than I was before. I never really paid much attention until I ran across some of the great photos on this forum. Cheers........the fishes.

Thnx for the new pix, fish. Very nice.

I think you're right that the fountains at Patuxai Monument are on only at night. I was there at twilight/early evening and the fountains were on. A group of Chinese ladies had rheir pic taken that time, if my memory is correct. I also went to that temple/monument in Vientiane, with BLD & family asy guides. Good memories. A pity my pic threads are gone bcos of Photobucket. Oh well, life goes on. Cheers!
