I think this place is for sale. Location is good but the place has not changed much since we were here years ago. This I call the haunted mansion. It looks to be.

This is not for the faint of heart.

Weary strangers faces show their sympathy they've seen that hope before.

Probably be cheaper in the long run to knock it down and start from scratch. Rebuilding abandoned buildings can be a real money pit.

I believe the plan is to demolish and rebuild. Time will tell.A good local and a few original french built places on the north river road towards the Chinese temple. Beautiful place for sure.
To the north I have been through hamlets where it is quite nice. The monks offer me beer and usually have an axe to grind. I mean a guitar.

This river flows under Budaha cave. It is closed until low season but the guide took me in as far as we could go. They knew him so all was good.I did miss The big river cave but hell, who's counting.

You're right but it'd be interesting to keep the original "ambiance".

    Not that it'll ever happen.

Thnx for the pics & stories, fish. Many parts of Laos are still very unspoilt. Btw, in those climbing pics, were you taking pix of the trail or the lady's ass? Heh.

All in all not a bad trip. It does help to know the locals. As Gumpf would say "that's all I got to say about that."

In all sympathy I've seen that home before.

But if you want to stay for a little bit.
Rest your aching limbs for a little bit.
Before you the night is beckoning and you know you cant delay
You hear the night birds calling you but you cant touch the restless sky
Close your aching eyes be on your way.................fish.

Thanks for the positive feedback. It means the world to us. I have many more photos to sift through but am now on limited time.

We did a hell of a tour and I can say I miss the place. Roosters, Goats and the like. 2000 pics and a few worth reviewing. The 4000 isle area is amazing as well as other places. I'll add to this thread when I find the time.

A song" almost cut my hair." Well I had them do it. It was darn hot you know.

Sorry. This is in Pakse. We did go to one in Vientiane though. It's very nice and has a theater but am afraid they don't often have English movies.
