I would love to fish this river. The water was clear an cool. I could see many schools of bait fish as we strolled along the river bank.
Beautiful place. I can see why It became a tourist magnet. I did not see the throngs of back packers this place was famous for. But then again I wasn't looking to go tubing down the river.
Again the balloon ride was the draw for us, the rest is just a bonus. The zip line is all on gopro so I may have to figure that out some day.
A river runs out from under the mountain as pretty girl gives me the thumbs up for taking a photo of it. Gotta love it.
I did get into the river from the rocks these girls are on and waded to the ladder at the platform. Why not. It was knee deep and I had shorts on.
A last look back at the mountain from the suspension bridge at a place called Tham Chang, Vang Vieng Laos.
Looking ahead to the Nam Song River one can only hope It retains its beauty as the pressures of man profiting from it undoubtedly increases over time.

Still enjoying the stories, Fish.
Your pics of Buddha Park are nicer than mine. But then, I went there late afternoon & the shadows weren't good. It was also near closing time so I didn't go up that pumpkin-like thingy. As for Patuxay Park, I also didn't go up the arc, since it was also twilight. Thnx for sharing the views from above. Lots of Chinese tourists during the time that I was there.
I saw that you got the 'moviestar' treatment, with younguns wanting their pics w/ you. A Swedish backpacker couple that I teamed up.with in Myanmar also got that treatment. I didn't, since I looked local. Bummer.
I'd be sad to see the beauty and tranquility of that river above destroyed by tourism, but that's progress..... sigh...
I'm sure looking different had much to do with it but what really got them going was a Laotian speaking fish in some stylish tan cargo shorts. You know, the ones with lots of pockets.
I'll keep going with this as long as I know some show some interest. I've been off work for a pinched nerve and the gf drove to Texas a few days ago so I'm passing time by reliving the past.
I've yet to get to the go pro stuff which should have some great material if I can figure out what to do with it.
Glad you enjoyed the pics. Hell I may even throw one in of the fish. The commander is in one but just his backside. He is all over face book, I am not and really am not into selfies. Peace out. Fish.

We did find the time to stroll along the river front and catch a bite to eat, fish.
I could get used to this. Fish loves seafood.
What's not to like.
I wanted the Massage & Art Souvenir but the gf wanted nothing to do with it.
We did stay at a real neat hotel for about 41usd along the river road. This is the hallway leading to variously themed rooms.
Nice and quiet. I had no complaints about this place.
For a few dollars more they would bring you breakfast. Very cool.
If you do happen to make it to Tad Yuang don't worry if you didn't pack a lunch like the locals. They just finished this new bar. Across the pathway is a restaurant overlooking the picnic places.
A nice place to relax for a bit and just chill.
Just prawns in the game.
Yet more stunning photos Fish. Thanks.
Tad Yuang is a cool place. The restaurant is at 10 o'clock overlooking the upper falls area. That's where I took the pics looking down on the cabanas by the river, there are arched concrete bridges that allow easy access to the area above the falls.
Follow the concrete stairs down from the restaurant and then it's off to a trail to the lower pavilions to view the falls from the river below.
It is here I would like to dispel any rumors that rural Laos is a utopia. We arrived and found the main road to the farm too rough for four wheeled vehicles. At least the one we rode in on.
Always an alternative as in the scooters. Honda waves. And man power.
Mrs fish gets a lift as do I ,taking pics of the "road" on our way in country.
Light travel was what she was accustom to way back when she camped out in the Philippines.
And one day you wake up in the present-day. A million generations removed from expectations of being who you really want to be. Skating away, skating away, skating away on the thin ice of a new day.So as you push off from the shore Won't you turn your head once more-and make your peace with everyone? (J.TULL).
And so these are the bags... I could do with less but the gf has to drag stuff from half way across the universe just because she can. 50lbs a bag ect.
Only to give it all away. But hell after all we left with our lives, and our memories, isn't that what really matters after all, to most I would think anyway.
