Then back to the hotel by the bridge for a stroll about the downtown area to get a bite to eat. The Frendship mart is two blocks away. Everything else is minutes by tuck tuck.

Where ever you stay you will not be far from Avis to drop off the car in the morning. Walk to many coffee shops from there and easy to find a ride anywhere in that area.

Suddenly I had a TeakDoor flashback but it wasn't so. No ColdPizza to be found. I did meet many falang along this route though. If see see a lot of them at a restaurant chances are the food will not kill you.

That haunted mansion has a sweet spot on the Don river right at the route 13 bridge. The bridge is new BTW.

On the same side of the river (north) east of the mansion was this relic of French colonialism on the Don river.

Should this be in the building threads under the Matured lot section. I did find a rather large snake skin while I was watering this tree. Made me kinda look up instead of just around.

This place is east of the Chinese Temple that is on the north west corner of the Don as it meets the Mekong. A cool spot where people would come to just chill out.

Thanks for the kind words. We had a great time in Laos thanks to my girl and her family and friends.
I was touring alone for many of these cycle rides and did have a blast thanks to them loaning me the scooters. Without them and some basic grasp of the lingo I'm sure I would have had a different take on this place. Adapt and keep an open mind and all is good.
I know I've got it good so no complaints this time around because at the end of the day I made it home to the farmhouse family and friends. If that makes any sense.

All is quiet on New Years Day.
Normally this road is full of action but I did get out on new years day as the gf and others stayed home. This road has many government offices Visa stuff ect along it. Closed for the holiday.

Stopped into a church I passed along the way.
No they were not singing to the Mamas and the Papas. Well maybe.

So low and behold I heard the music coming from across the compound. What was a fish to do. Well what would you do if your mother asked you?

The image is a blur but the memory still remains. They offered me a beer and I believe I declined as I was on the scooter, however I pulled my .60mm Dunlop pic out of my pocket and it was on. He handed me the electrified acoustic guitar and I strummed a few finishing up with my best rendition of Led Zeppelins' Bron-Yr-Aur.

    What a day it was.

So If your not into waterfalls or camping, zip lines or temples you can always take the gf and sprockets to the mall.

A Friendship mart was on the second level in the Friendship Mall. This place was spotless and had a decent selection of products.
