    Hillary Care: Fast & Efficient

TIPTON IOWA -- Presidential hopeful John Edwards yesterday stated that his state run health care system would be mandatory.

"It requires that everybody be covered. It requires that everybody get preventive care," he told a crowd sitting in lawn chairs in front of the Cedar County Courthouse. "If you are going to be in the system, you can't choose not to go to the doctor for 20 years. You have to go in and be checked and make sure that you are OK."

This prompted an immediate response from the Hillary Clinton campaign.
In a statement issued today Hillary mocked the North Carolina Senator.

"Ha...Twenty years? My health care plan calls for five minutes in the middle of the night. A simple house call by state doctors and a knock on the door at 3AM when you're given five minutes to pack one suitcase before you are taken by health care professionals to the nearest hospital if the state deems you unhealthy and not fit."

"Mammograms? Hell no, euthanasia. Leave it to the professionals to decide whether you are healthy or not. Simple diagnostic tests like if you're able to hold a shovel will determine your general heath."

WTF? She makes no sense at all and did not understand Edwards' statement, although I do hate speakers who use double negatives. She's gone battier.

^ It's a joke Jet (and not a very good one). Boony can normally do much better in the humour department.

Why are people (read: "Americans") so afraid of socialised medicine when it is objectively a better system?

Is it a hang-over from McCarthyism that they quake at the very thought? It really is all very odd.

Americans are afraid of socialized medicine because they are afraid of the word socialized, it sounds like communism, even though they already have many socialized programs (fire department, police etc...)

The doctrinaire approach can be seen on both sides of the fence. The French have a system which is now effectively free at point of delivery. Those with income pay a (not inconsequential) social security tax and those without a pot to piss in get it free. Even with the high taxes the system is still a black hole money wise yet should any politico suggest reforms to solve the problem the unions are out on the streets with their placards.

I agree, it's true that neither system is perfect. However when it becomes apparent that people are being deprived health care because they can't afford it then you know something is seriously wrong with the system and the society.

The socialized medicine system is not supposed to be in balance or even be in profit, that's an argument used by the facists to get rid of it. Does the Police or the Fire Department accounts in balance ? of course not, and yet nobody complains.
