I'm 100% unconvinced the US is doing anything wrong in Gitmo. These terrorists are lucky to be alive and I'm quite sure if they had speedy trials in 2002 and 2003 when they were captured they'd all be dead right now. Ever consider that? Then you whiney wanks would be wound up about that.

Maybe it's a good thing they practiced a little restraint. Maybe some of them will be let out of their cage. I hope not.

Well they haven't had speedy trials and they haven't been convicted of anything and to claim they're all auotmatically guilty purely by the fact of their being there is a logical fallacy. Prisoners have been released from Gitmo having been found innocent; under your definition they should still be there or be executed. It's completely illogical yet you insist on repeating the same fallacies over and over at the expense of verifiable fact. You're not convincing anyone else, are you convincing yourself?

In July 2003, David Hicks became one of the first six Guantanamo Bay detainees to be determined by President George W. Bush to be eligible for trial by Military Commission. Mr Hicks was eventually charged on 10 June 2004 with conspiracy to commit war crimes, attempted murder and aiding the enemy. He pleaded not guilty to each charge.
Mr Habib was released on 28 January 2005 on the basis that there was insufficient evidence to lay charges against him.
The US Government maintained that it had a substantial case in relation to Mr Hicks. The Australian Government has maintained that it is not possible to bring Mr Hicks back to Australia to be prosecuted under Australian law and that once he was charged, the US prosecution process had to be allowed to take its course.
The military commission process was found to be unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court on 29 June 2006. The new Military Commissions Act 2006 was passed in the US Congress in September 2006. Mr Hicks was the first detainee to be brought to trial.
No doubt they were involved in anti0US actions and they were given a TRIAL after a lot of pressure by the Australian public forced the Australian government to intercede on their behalf.

And that is the crux of this thread - not the perceived Yank bashing, nor the red, white and blue sphincter tightening of American posters who think any criticism of anything linked to the US pertains to the whole history and population of the US.
