The previous high costs of 2001 probably due to the Queen Mother?? must have saved a fair few million on Gin and Betting on the Gee-Gees when she pegged it early in 2002

You know, get elected to the position after meeting the criteria (over 35 etc etc) Serve your term. Receive the benefits. The royal family requirement -- survive childbirth. Daft.

Then there's her reported 'extravagances' you pointed out with the gambling, roast swan sandwiches and gin by the bucketload. No time for these parasites myself.

| Senior Member | Damn you colonials externalise your envy in a most eloquent way. The fact remains, however. The Uk makes more money out of you sad tourist twats that come to ogle the " changing of the guard", Buck Palace etc etc. than we pay the dear old girl for waving out of the back of a car. Envy, the sauce that makes the meal taste good ?

| They're a bunch of inbreds that Asians and Yanks appear to hold in a lot more esteem than the average Brit. But then again, nowadays the average Brit's parents probably suffered under colonial rule. |

| Have to agree with other posters that it is good value for money, considering that it is only 66 pence per year from each tax payer. When you consider all the other amounts that we are taxed for and never see anything for it, then this pales into insignificance. This week paid out alone for petrol over £70 and about half of that is taxes, do I see any improvements on the roads, bloody joking aren't you. Then there is the so called airport tax (green tax) for the privilege of flying somewhere, and loads of other hidden taxes. Half the bloody taxes that we pay just seem to support the government of the time and all the 'jollies' that they want to have, creating a board to oversee the work of something, then managers to watch them and then another board to see if they are doing it wrong. It should be noted that the Royal family all pay tax on their income. |

| 40,000/0.66 = 60.6 million Correction the royals cost 66pence for every man woman and child in the UK. The cost to each taxpayer has got to be about 2 pound each. As a London tourist attraction it would be fairer if the bill were be picked up in entirety by the London City Council. |

| Eh up folks, lets not forget the amount of business generated by the truckloads of business peeps feeding off the goodwill to the UK resulting from the various Royal trips abroad. Especially if headed by the Queen. The UK certainly gains from that. At this rate, I'll be throwing a few more penny's in the hat and telling them to keep up the good work! ![]() |
