I have heard from the Brits here the Guardian may not be the best source but here is an interesting piece on the UK sale to Saudi. No intent to single out the UK as all countries seem to have a habit of looking the other way when it comes to Arms sales. Not surprising countries find themselves at war with an enemy who in the past was a recipient of their weapons.

"According to the latest annual report on weapons-related exports, the government in 2006 approved arms exports to 19 of the 20 countries it identified as "countries of concern" for abusing human rights.

They included Saudi Arabia, Israel, Colombia, China, and Russia. The report also reveals that during 2006 the UK authorised the export of more than 15,000 sniper rifles to countries including Pakistan, Jordan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, components for military aircraft and tanks for China, and heavy machine guns for Colombia.

They also included the sale of components for combat aircraft, electronic warfare equipment, helicopters, military aircraft cockpit displays, unmanned vehicles and anti-armour missiles for Israel."

Why am I not surprised. The hypocrites will be by any moment now to tell us what a piece of fishwrap the Guardian is...

Sniper rifles to Pakistan and Jordan...

Heavy machine guns to Columbia...

More likely they'll all just go silent. That's their style -- passive aggressive hypocrites.

No. My apology, as I can't find the page again. I concede that on other sites Britain is claimed as the biggest exporter of death and Israel 4th. Israel is the biggest exporter of weapons to the US. This may have got me confused. But I'll keep looking for the original link.

No problemo. Your post stated "per capita". For a small country Israel does market allot of weapons. It comes with the territory, I guess. Look at all the rockets the Pales export. And Hezbollah, they aren't even a nation and they are always sending rockets over national boundaries.
