| Son Jailed After Father's Tip Off A Lancashire teenager has been jailed for three years after his father informed police he had found bullets in his son's bedroom. His father discovered 11 bullets in the room and called the police - who also found a handgun under the bed. Paul Metcalfe, 19, from Nelson, pleaded guilty to possession of a weapon and the ammunition at Burnley Crown Court. His father Neil Metcalfe, 43, said he had "no regrets" about his decision to call the police. Source: BBC website news Would you do that to your son? Would it cure him or turn him against you and into a worse criminal?. If you would do it, how minor would the crimes need to be? If you would not do it, why not? |

| Don't think I could ever do it. Certainly not for having bullets and a gun, thats just pathetic. Maybe the father was a molestor and wife beater and he was worried son would off him in his sleep. |

| Senior Member | I'd never do it because I have absolutely no faith in the system. So, my son goes to jail and comes out a bigger and better crim. with an understanding of the depravities of mankind. It's easy to say but if I could I'd get him/her out of the environment into some thing harsh but safe and show him the "other side". i.e refugee camps in Sudan etc.

| Want a cnut, his father could just have disposed of the gun and bullets or handed them in annonymously to the police, but grassing up your own son and costing him 3 years of his life when he is only 19, i say again what a coont. |

| Jack Straw, one of the Labour Party's stranger elite, once shopped his son for having, I think, cannabis. Actually marched the lad to the pig sty himself and made sure the newspapers knew about it. It was to protect the old boy's political career though, so it was all right to shaft his son's own career chances. |

About 18 months with time off for good behaviour. Just long enough to to become a real criminal with a sore backside. Teenagers in British prisons must be sought after meat. | |
