Racism in the issues section of TD doesn't it seem to be increasing lately? the slurs 'nigger', 'coon', and 'darkie' are posted with increasing frequency. tired racist stereotypes regarding watermelon and chitlins are considered humorous. an issues mod compared the african american wife of presidential candidate barack obama to a monkey. is the increase due to the fact that they're frightened that the next president of the US might be black? or have these like minded people determined that they've found a place where they can express their long held positions of white superiority without fear of consequence? whatever the reason i find it despicable. yet realize that their posts speak volumes about the posters themselves and nothing about the targets of their race based hatred. to be clear, i'm not asking for anything to be 'done' about the racist posts (and the people who post them), just noting their increased presence on the forum.

A review of those posts will reveal it's only a handful of posters. Hardly a widespread phenomenon. Sexist too! Might want to check the Hillary posts for the words: bitch, beast, PMS, queen, butch and blowjob. No ... strike that last one.

| Senior Member | I do not read to many threads or posts because of Ray Carey being the prime poster on issues. But I have not seen to many racist names for colored people being used at all, but again maybe the ones that use them are on ignore with Ray Carey and being the same class as him too.

George Bush would delight if the worst he were called was Whitey, Cracker, Honkey, Holly or Whitebread. Why is it that racial slurs are most vile and unacceptable, but slurs of other sorts seem to go unnoticed? Gender, religion, age, sexual-orientation, nationality -- all OK. Race -- Absolutely out of bounds. btw I'm not condoning racial slurs (almost never use them) just thinking out loud.

^ yep. 555 Senator Bambi is pulling the race card and those of us without tinted glasses are calling him on it. I don't give a toodle's fart that his pastor is black; I do look at what he said. But, when Bambi did the race speech and his wife has also called the race issue, I will respond. Who's being racist? They are. This election should be about who is best to lead the US nation. It should be beyond race. Bambi's camp want people to go backwards and do race again. FO. Don't matter. McCain will win coz the dems cannot figure out nominee numbers.

But if Huckabee were running, it would be perfectly acceptable (almost funny even) to suggest he'd have corn-on-the-cob and funnel cakes at state dinners after the tractor-pull on the White House lawn ...
