racism - n. theory that human abilities etc are determined by race.

How can you say that your statement is not racist, Faye? You are prejudging individuals based on their race - but deride those that are dismissive of discrimination of Asian females.

To say that blacks or hispanics only get on because of the advantages given to them but that Asians work for any benefits earned is a huge generalisation, don't you think? Surely there are those that fit the stereotype & those that buck it in all groups?

And to say that you (as an individual, or in the grouping of Asian female) are fearful of an entire race & gender because of their reputation & physical appearance? I'm sorry, I don't see how you can get much more racist than that.

Having a half black 'Leader of the Free World' (your term, not mine) who is articulate, educated and moderate- and not even really scary- could go a long way towards influencing racial stereotyping of blacks by both non-blacks, and indeed by themselves. IMO.

Hopefully these types will remain marginalised, although we shifted too far from my moderate world view when the Loony (now called the Neo-Con) cabal took over the Whitehouse. Thats the price of Democracy- eternal vigilence.

basically, modern racism as we see it today, is nothing more than the demonization of a group through generalization by a marginal hate group,

racism is acceptable as it's part of our nature, we can't change that, it's the "marginal" racism that is not acceptable

If you were a petite Asian woman, and had a small father and mother, you might feel differently. American inner city blacks are very fearsome for Chinese immigrants. Call it irrational if you will, but it is fact.

Yeah south Asian but not Pakistani. I am Pakistani for Storekeeper only. When you use the term "Asians" it constitutes of south, east, north, west and obviously central Asia. There're a wide variety of people who don't have same opinion as some south-east Asians or East Asians. If you had said, I or my family members or us south-east Asians are scared of blacks, it would have been relatively appropriate.

Macha, no, it's more than that. Blacks terrorize what they perceive as weaker ethnic groups, including most Asians. They are predators with a much lower IQ than most.

Yes, there is a lot of racial prejudice between Blacks and Asians, it seems.

-not that any of it it 'racist', they are just reacting to how the other is. Asians are small, meek and cunning, Blacks are big, strong and stupid.

I do agree with you but don't agree when you "generalise". I have lived in places like "Brooklyn" and "Tottenham, greater London" and never had any problem with blacks. I do know for a fact that a handful of blacks (as is true for all races) do stir shit up but saying that all of them are predators is over the top. If you go to a ghetto and you complain about being preyed upon by a black then IMO it's absurd.

If by this you mean the gang bangers, I agree they are rightfully to be feared. Hard working inner city blacks are also fearful of them. They are in short thugs who would not think twice about killing someone for a few dollars.

Equating these guys as representative of the entire race does lead to the classical definition of racial prejudice.
