Heh...that's why it's called Concealed Carry.

Gun Toting Diners Draw Little Notice

The patrons at Champps in Reston, an upscale restaurant and bar chain, were eating ribs and drinking beer on a recent Saturday when customer Bruce Jackson stood up and made an announcement: He was armed, and so were dozens of other patrons.

The armed customers stood up in unison, showing off holstered pistols. Mr. Jackson said a word or two about the rights of gun owners to carry firearms in Virginia, then thanked everyone for his or her attention and sat down.

And the diners returned to their burgers and Budweisers.

so let me see if i've got this right...

umprompted, this guy stands up from his table at a restaurant to announce to the other patrons that he's carrying a loaded hand gun.

doesn't this strike anyone else as (at the very least) bizarre behavior?

ahhhh........

taken from boon mee's link....

Quote:
The Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) organized the dinner at Champps
Quote:
The dinner — and several other restaurant visits throughout Northern Virginia last month — were a response to comments from the majority leader in the state Senate, Democrat Richard L. Saslaw, who said during a legislative debate that armed patrons would be unwelcome in Northern Virginia restaurants.

"In most urban areas, you walk into a restaurant with a gun on your hip, they're going to tell you to get out," Mr. Saslaw said.

In fact, with a few exceptions, the gun owners got their meals. The group went to eight different restaurants last month — at two of them, they were asked to leave. More often than not, though, their presence failed to generate a stir.
Quote:
The restaurants included numerous family establishments including the Fuddruckers burger chain and the McLean Family Restaurant.
Quote:
(virginia) is only one of two states — along with Montana — that requires people to openly carry arms in restaurants that serve alcohol, according to the Web site opencarry.org, which promotes and monitors gun owners' rights. Eleven states ban guns in restaurants that serve alcohol, while the rest make no distinction between open and concealed weapons.
so these yahoos are going to restaurants with guns with the sole purpose of creating conflict.

and what do they want?

to carry concealed weapons in establishments that serve alcohol.

great.

Sure lots of things happen in movies that don't happen anywhere else. But lots of things happen in real life that would be OTT even in a movie. The post I made was to illustrate my opposition to those that advocate or imply the US would be a better place if everyone was packin heat. Somehow the logic escapes me unless we want to relive our wild west past.

Nort, packing concealed is not going to cause folks to act like Bobby Redford and Paul Newman in Bolivia.
I packed most of the time I was in states where it was legal, Most places you can not pack into a courthouse or into saloons.
But if something did come down you would be better off with one that without.
Just like some dudes always pack condoms in their wallet and wear a dozen out and they never get to use one and so they quit packing, and that very day they meet up with a honey of a nymph in a bar, run out to get one and when they get back she has already left with another dude.
Never hurts to pack and be ready..

When imminent danger is only seconds away, the nearest cop is minutes away..

Norton's losing his grip out there in the quiet rice fields. Is that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid spouting a line from Bruce Willis in Die Hard?

Heh...BO wouldn't approve:

G_D, Guts & Guns
!

A Missouri car dealer has launched a special giveaway: $250 worth of gas…or a free semi-automatic handgun.

Need a new car? How about a new handgun, too?

You can get both at the Max Motors car dealership in Butler, Mo. And the gun is free…

Buyers can choose either the $250 gun coupon or one of equal value for gasoline…

Moore knows a “Free Handgun” ad would probably draw protests in some places, but not in Butler, about an hour south of Kansas City on U.S. 71.

“Down here we all believe in God, guts and guns,” Moore said.

That’s in one of those “states in the middle,” says BO

Perhaps the so-called SF Moonbat latte liberals you hang with red, but I assure you, there's lots of folks who do subscribe to 'traditional' values in "Flyover Country"...heh

this is your latest example of 'traditional values'?
get a grip blog boy.

and you've avoided the point......do you think most americans would approve of used car salesmen giving away semi automatic weapons? do you think local law enforcement approves?

these are yes or no questions boon mee.
