    Why Are The Brits Backing Down Again

    Teachers drop the Holocaust to avoid offending Muslims | the Daily Mail

    Seems wrong to me,,someone is always cutting the Japanese for denying their atrocities of WW2.

    History is just that.

    It found some teachers are reluctant to cover the atrocity for fear of upsetting students whose beliefs include Holocaust denial.
    ...
    The report said teachers feared confronting 'anti-Semitic sentiment and Holocaust denial among some Muslim pupils'.
    ..unbelievable! What a disgrace.

    But then, this is the "Daily Mail", it would be nice to have a quality source on this subject.

    I don't know about that news service, but it is pobly just like the rest,, publish what ever they want to.
    But I had heard that somewhere before recently and I think it is damn sure the wrong way to go.
    Like teaching math with out the numbers 66 and drop the number 13 because of superstitious people.

    Good point. The Daily Mail most likely picked up on an example which represented less that 1% of the whole. Hardly a case of the "Brits backing down again"; more likely a very small minority of teachers having to walk on eggshells in a few city centre schools.

    Something like this, unless in a strict Islamic school, could not happy. You can't just erase the past - especially that of a generation or two before and of the Holocausts' magnitude.

    I've just read the report, which is here;

    http://www.dfes.gov.uk/research/data...iles/RW100.pdf

    Only Two schools refused to teach about the holocaust for fear of offending Muslims, disgraceful but hardly something major. It's not a compulsory part of the curriculum at the moment so schools have the choice of teaching it or not. From next year the new National Curriculum will make studying the Holocaust compulsory for all history students.
    Typical Daily Mail hyperbole IMO.
