    Vischa Buka Day in Bali

Time to get away from the shenanigans in Bangkok, I'm headed to Bali for a well deserved long weekend (and there is also a footy tournament on as well)

According to Wikipedia Bali also celebrates Vischa Buka day

"Vesākha (Pali; Sanskrit: Vaiśākha वैशाख) is an annual holiday observed traditionally by Buddhists in the South Asian and South East Asian countries of Nepal, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Indonesia and India. Sometimes informally called "Buddha's Birthday," it actually encompasses the birth, enlightenment (Nirvana), and passing away (Parinirvana) of Gautama Buddha."

I know that it will be a dry day in Bangers, does anyone know if it will be dry in Bali as well ?

(personally I don't think so, all those damn Australians would riot otherwise, but perhaps I should stock up at the airport, just in case like)

Pics to follow when we get there.

And, of course, I discover that there are no flights for AirAsia today (direct to Bali ), I could go to Jakarta, then get another flight, but the BKK-JKT flight is not until 20.30
Which is no quicker or cheaper than rescheduling the original Singapore Air tix.

So a wasted evening and another day of travel, almost not worth it, except the Villa's are paid for and the rest of the team are expecting me.

Anyone else ever miss flights for stupid reasons ?

    Some pictures, as promised.

Day before the football we sat in a nice, but expensive restaurant in Seminyak called Ku De Ta. Mojitos and some snacks.

A rather eclectic and interesting crowd was present in the venue.

Which also had some really good lounge/house music playing, apparently later in the evening it is the place to be, and be seen. Strict dress code though.

    Right on the beach.

We stayed at these villas, bvilla resort Bali | a quiet place to stay, a happening area to hang out in seminyak, bali pricey, but private pool, private chief, all the gadgets such as ipod players, flat screen tv's etc, multiple rooms and good location made them good value anyway.

A nice venue to play some football, but it was damn hot.

The following day saw some of us wander around Bali, some random shots here.

    Streetscape.

    Petrol or vodka ?

nice statue. chained up, suppose to many drunk aussie bastards tried to steal it before.

Bali is known as the land of the Gods.

Well, there are more temples and small shrines than you can poke a stick at.

    Entrance to a small temple

    Shrine outside a shop.

    Statue outside a temple grounds.

    Flowers outside another.
