KW didnt go Paragliding in Puncak (but MrsKW did!)

The hills of Puncak (not far from Bogor, Indonesia) are famous for their tea plantations and views. However, we discovered that there is also a multitude of things to do there. Including air sports, last weekend we decided to on an adventurous way to see the sights, paragliding. (there was also a dinosaur theme park, which looked really lame, but I bet that Nawty will love it) We also noticed but did not have time for paint ball.

    Fly Indonesia,

(FLY INDONESIA PARAGLIDING - Indonesia - Info Perusahaan) offer courses, pilots licenses, tourist trips, and for a quick try, a tandem flight, for 300,000 IDR per person. (which is roughly $30) This is for an approx 10 minute flight down to the designated landing area.

We spoke with Nixon, his English is great, he would email, ring and sms depending on what you prefer. You can choose to stay in Puncak or Bogor, to be closer, we decided to drive up and back in one day.

We left Jakarta at 6.30 am. Alone the way we stopped at a famous coffee shop, Ciomoy,

someone had a hangover, coffee didnít really fix it.

This hotel had seen better days

Not quite sure what that sign means

Back into the car, stay on the main road, once passing through the tea plantations, there is a very large mosque on the left hand side.

The Fly Indonesia company was a left turn into a small touristy road (sign posted) about 500metres on the left passed the mosque.(and then another very bumpy, rutted twisted road up the mountain)

    Mountain biking.

Toilets. To shit is 20cents, piss is only 10 cents. I donít know how they check that though!

Paragliding is weather dependant, which means you can only fly when the winds are blowing from the correct direction. This involves lots of sitting around and waiting. In fact, KW didnít get a turn, since he is a fat bastard, and then the winds changed so he couldnt but everyone else had a great time.

Unfortunately, everyone visits Puncak during the weekends, so traffic home is a biatch. We waited for an hour without moving, these punks came by begging for money. After 5pm the police make the road a one way system for a few hours, then we got home easily.

I don't see any pics of Mrs KW. Which is the sole reason I clicked on this thread.

Being an accomplished paraglider pilot myself, it was nice to see this thread. I enjoy seeing where others fly in various countries.

Nice to see somebody doing something besides drinking and bashing the locals. Like Travelmate I was hoping to see the Mrs. all decked out in flying gear too.
