Is this a Jakarta Sweatshop ?It's for cards and wedding invitations.

Here is where you get your wedding invitations made up. Visit Pasar Tebet, not very far from Mentang, a large expat area and old Indonesia money area.

So far inside, it looks like an ordinary mall.... or cheap plaza/marktet.

food, gold, cheap DVD's that sort of thing.

turns out that in the basement is hundreds of printing shops, specifically for invitations, its THE place to go for your wedding invitations!

They make them and print them all here.

    it was hot down there.

but actually, I wasnt sure the exact definition of a sweatshop, they were certainly working long hours for low pay, in confined and hot conditions.

perhaps its a step above a sweatshop... ?

If it was that hot, why are some of the women wearing headscarves?

Looks like some pretty fancy invitations there...

In a previous life in Scotland I was quoted £700 for about 150 piddly card invitations... Decided to buy a printer and reel them off myself for a fraction of the quote...

Bet these are reasonably priced, if they are on sweat shop wages.

The shop that we were in previously had an order about to go out, I guess, not much room left.

I apologize for the quality of the photo, obviously being in the presence of so many wedding invitations, made my eyes weepy and my hands shake...

A B&W sample for checking layout.

And the last big surprise, the whole area closes down after 7.00pm, so I guess it aint a sweatshop then!
