I'll be there just three, maybe four nights for work.
Which area would be a good place to spend my 4th night?
Suggestions or a personal message from Kingwilly most welcome.

Depends, where you are working mate. But more importantly I'm happy to catch up for a beer. When?
Oh to be in Jakarta when the circus is in town.........
From what I've seen online and heard people say, it's like a muslim Bangkok circa 1998, only with more traffic.
What's that on your avatar Scampy?
Are you selling them?
Oh and nice to see you alive and well.
You having another business plan, LT???Originally Posted by Loy Toy

1998 is being generous.
only with more traffic is an understatement.
Handy Tip #1
Bring USD for changing currency, but the notes should be 100s, recent issue and in perfect condition
Handy Tip #2
Only use bluebird or silverbird taxis for safety. A ride from airport to centre of town is approx 1 hour (or 2 in heavy traffic and will cost approx 200,000 IDR)
I'm selling the Czech Republic.
I thought that read
'personal massage from King Willy'
Eyesight not so good.
Scampy, see if you can find out the difference between a 'waria' and a 'banci'. I never could.
Here's some useful Bahasa 'Saya mau lihat puncak gunung susumu'.......It means - 'can I see your nipples' (lit: 'I want to see the road passing over Mount Titty')
Except Says is too formal, use gue (these days aku and kamu is for your girlfriend)
Oh I never managed any slang when I was there - eg the personal pronouns, and when I see Bahasa written on social media - I can't fathom a single word!
One could always establish which Bules had worked through a certain language course (me included), because we would refer doggedly to bottled water as 'air es' rather than 'aqua'.
I have just gotten news that my APEC travel card has been approved, so I can now presumably return to Indonesia after my forced deportation a few years ago.
Social media and sms slang does my head in too. Basically no hard and fast rules, make it up as you go along. Drop all vowels.
So Saya sudah datang might read as gue udah dtg
Tidak is formal for nggak but on social media it's typed as gak
jalan jalan might be jln2
Etc
What happened there?
Nice one, is she Indonesian?
I am sure there is an interesting story behind all this, would you mind sharing it with us ?Originally Posted by The Ghost Of The Moog

Pulling out sticky visa labels from passport. Had my passport besmirched with a dirty great red stamp saying something rude, and was put on the next boat out. Didn't get past immigration.
I was told later ( by the person who owned the hotel where I was to stay) that I was very close to getting a night in jail for my actions and subsequent conduct (eg trying to bribe officer)
Heinous!
How hot is it in Jakarta right now?
It's so hot in Bangkok they are selling shade.
94 here.
