    Indonesian immigration query

Last time I tried to enter Indonesia, I was refused entry (due to a problem with my passport).

Thinking about going back, and therefore want to find out if the question 'Have you ever been refused entry into Indonesia?' appears on...

    a) The immigration form
    b) The tourist visa-on-arrival form

    Thanks

Just apply for the visa before you go. If its granted you should be okay.

I did that - removed 2 china ones when getting a non imm b for Thailand. They never realised. Stupid twats wanting to take up a page in your passport when a simple stamp would suffice. In fact one of them might have been an indo one now I come to think of it, done whilst waiting in KL Thai embassy. Wankers.

    Got a new passport now?

^Yes, Indonesian immigration put a big red stamp in my (tampered with) passport.

    They also scanned every page.

I don't want to lie on a re-entry, so want to find out if those two questions are asked on the paperwork.

Unfortunately, Moog, I really don't know. Also having a KITAS it's been over a decade since I applied for an Indonesian Visa...

The advise above to apply for it before arriving sounds good, but if you really wanna check read Living In Indonesia Expat Forum (if I got that address right, easily googleable. The french supermoderator, Atlantis, while a pompous crunt really does know his law and visas.

It's too long to paste, but the US State Department has a long write up about how unreasonable their Immigration can be, although they don't word it that way.

I have the same problem with my passport, only some of the Thai visas simply fell out because the glue holding them was substandard.

In any event, you are certainly not the only person who has had problems there.

    Indonesia

"If you are entering Indonesia through Bali, you must have two fully blank passport pages in your passport. If you are entering through other ports of entry, you must have at least one blank page. Indonesian immigration inspectors do not consider amendment pages in your passport as blank pages. If your passport is nearly full, be sure to obtain extra blank passport pages before you travel - go to How to Add Extra Pages to Your U.S. Passport. If you don't meet Indonesian entry criteria properly, you may be denied entry on the spot with no recourse and put on the next available flight departing Indonesia."

Thanks for the research, guys !

I offered the immigration officer a bribe - and that got me into even more trouble.

According to the owner of the hotel, a friend of mine who followed up on the situation, they were quite close to putting me in the cells for a night, given my conduct.

^ doctoring a passport, then trying to bribe the official. Can't see why that should set any alarm bels ringing.

I also claimed to be a friend of the ex-President.
(That other 'get out of jail' card one likes to use with uniformed bossy-boots)

    It was true actually.

The officer replied 'If that's the case, you should have more respect for my country'

You may also want to consider suitable attire this time.

Many years ago now i was refused entry to a country, they stamped every page. Got a new passport, went back, got in and then committed the crime.
My point is, if you have the time, get a new passport.

I remember when I was working in Malaysia, I popped over to Sumatra for a break

The immi guy made me follow him to his office and asked why was I coming to Indonesia

    "A holiday", I replied

"no", he said, "you are working"

    "no", I said, "a holiday"

"no", he said, "you are working"

this went on for about 5 minutes, and I was refusing to reach in my pocket

then we just sat and looked at each other for a while

then he stamped my passport and said "have a nice holiday"
    I have reported your post

that's because you are black, and immigration officials in Asia are always suspicious of black people and they know they can be an easy target for bribes

I am always amazed how so many Nigerians scammers could make it to Bangkok, they must be paying quite a few fees to get there

he probably thought you were a Nigerian scammer,
