took about 1.5 hours to reach the coast of sumatra

filled out the visa forms on route as per usual, stern warnings...

arrived at polonia airport medan, just around sunset.

visa on arrival, $25, pay at the little kiosk in the corner when you get in the building, then que for immigration, painless, took about 10 mins.
took a cab into town, which was about 5 dollars, probably paid over the odds but couldnt be fooked with haggling, 10 mins taxi ride to the hotel.

we opted for a cityview room, choice of that or the pool, wasnt disapointed with the view, that big building is the jw marriot.

breakfast was good, buffett style, no bacon though, only that chicken bacon stuff...

then off to the pool to wait out till the afternoon

the hotel is actually on the top of a shopping mall, so there was always a nice breeze.

    Thanks for the pictures.

Must say that it changed quite a lot since I was there last in 2005 shortly after the Tsunami - definitely cannot remember a JW Marriott and also the Aryaduta looks nicer than any of the hotels that where there then.

    guessing this was a nightclub

came across a local market area, and tried a bit of streetfood, was delicious, chicken satay, with some spicy sauce

    clean and tidy

damn tasty, no problems with the belly either
