    Dental Implants

Anyone have any experience getting a dental implant here in LOS? I was told I needed to get an implant for one of my molars (not quite sure yet), however they quoted me about 25,000 HKD (~96k baht) for the operation.

I'm looking for a price and a recommendation on a nice dentist who can do this for me.

    Thanks in advance!

I've been researching this for a while,
Fortune Dental clinic, Chiang mai,Near the airport,
I can't find anything negitive about them on various forums.
The prices are on the web site.
I've emailed back & forth with them, they seem ok, been going for 10yrs.
They have accommodation on site, good idea, stay untill recovery.
Dental Implants seem to be a 2 step, 3 month process, depends on your needs.

Any one got any info, Good or bad, on Fortune Dental clinic..???

^They're my regular dentist. I've used them for about 5 years and never had a problem with them, nor has anybody else I know. Prices are reasonable too although most of the CM dentists in the same quality category charge more or less the same.

I don't know where you'll be going for the operation but that's about 30,000 Baht over the Chiang Mai rate.

Nedwalk and just recently his Aussie mate have had both their teeth replaced (implants and others) and they are both over the moon with the result and prices.

The dentist is in Pattaya (third road) and he completed all the implants (22) in 3 weeks for Ned (marathon sessions).

I've never had implants but I think I'm going to need at least one soon. What do they feel like? Do they feel like natural teeth or is there any discomfort?

Great, I'll be in Chiang Mai for Chinese New Year, so I'll definitely give them a go.

    Thanks!

Don't have any myself mate but Ned had his whole set of teeth replaced and he said for the first week he had to learn to use them but afterwards natural feeling.

He had a major job done to grind down his gums due to gum disease which took about 3 sessions, then his 22 implants plus some caps and he just told me it cost him 240,000.00 Baht.

I must say his teeth look amazing and you could not tell they were implants.

The other claim that implants take some time to complete is a fallacy as some dentists drag out the sessions to charge higher prices.

Again he had his whole gob done and dusted in 3 weeks.

the timeline all depends on the existing situation.

some cases are suitable for immediate implants, some cases need preparatory work before the implants can be fixed. the time between the preparatory work and the implant fixing can vary.

    grind down his gums
if you mean modify the osseous structures underlying the periodontium then you should say so. there is no such procedure as grinding down the gums. at least not in the civilised world.

Well trim or shave down the gums to remove the disease.

That work was completed first up and it took about 3 sessions in the chair and based upon what Nedwalk told me was the most painful part of the whole procedure.

Ned I think used the term grind (when I spoke to him he could only mumble) and to be honest his teeth were fooked and the gum disease was pretty bad. In fact he had trouble eating a banana as his teeth were all loose.

I am in the middle of implant surgery here in the UK.
Its been just over a year so far but i have also had bone grafts.
All being done by The Brighton Implant Clinic.
I would describe it as uncomfortable rather than painfull. I am amazed at the ability of the surgeon to carry out these ops with so little pain.
The dentists i have been to in the past must have been trained at Dewhursts ! (UK butchery chain)
A lot of the costs are determined by the type of implant used.
I am surprised that Ned has had 22 ? that sounds like too many to me, would undermine the strength of his bone structure, i think. Unless he meant 12 implants fitted with 22 crowns ?

£22,000. inc insurance against any failures requiring further surgery.

I carried out a lot of research including quotes from other surgeons first. This chap was not the cheapest but i was able to see and speak to past patients .

Poor diet as a kid, and then trying to eat a baseball bat in my early 20's
Then vainity strikes at 55 and i dont want to wear dentures later in life, so have the surgery while i can afford it and can handle it.

^Good on ya, Bower. Sounds super painful. I am older than you, but still have the original set - in pristine condition now that I got that cavity filed. Other than a bit discolored due to years of coffee and smokes. Hoping I get some more years out of these.

I dont know much about these fast implants just 3 weeks for a full set.
They may be full bridge dentures fitted onto just 4 and 6 implants. This is not the same thing as full implants.

It really has not been that painful.
I am envious of your ability to maintain a full set of your own. Its a good sign of all round good health i am sure.

One thing i would mention, is that my doctor also told me that gum disease and or tooth decay can be a contributory factor in heart disease.
