Help, Advice Needed

Hi there, I'm in Pattaya once again for my annual spanning. It seems however that I will need some good medical care with relation to an ongoing prostate problem. I know that there are the two main hospitals here in Pattaya but which one of them would you recommend. I dont care at all about the cost. I would also want to see the best consultant possible. Your help would really be appreciated.

That's a great help for me DD. Thanks for such a quick reply. If anyone knows of any particular consultant that would also be useful. Personnal references would also be great.

If you are covered by good top notch Health Insurance, just go to the Hospital and tell them that- they'll even bring a guy down from Bkk if warranted. They will absolutely gouge you on price though, compared to what you could manage elsewhere here but hey, if you're not paying...

Bangkok Pattaya is excellent, but expensive. I used to go to Samitivet Hospital in Sriracha which was excellent and much cheaper. A lot of people I knew living in Chonburi province used Samitivet as well.

You personally know 2 UK guys that were diagnosed as having prostrate cancer, or you have heard rumours that maybe 2 guys etc etc etc blah blah blah.

Also if the insurance covers it what does it matter what the price is, people pay for good insurance to get the best treatment.

If it was a UK NHS hospital that is quite believable.

They may well find their prostate cancer becomes terminal before anyone in the NHS diagnoses it.

I broke my left ankle roughly seven years ago and was X-rayed and treated in an NHS hospital, after which I had weeks of agony hobbling about in a moonboot before having an operation under my private health insurance. I would be a cripple now without BUPA. NHS Fuckwits didn't recognise a broken bone.

Been there done that!!!!!!!!

Bangkok Pattaya, the best by far, superior consultants and service but comes with a price. Better than any European hospital in my opinion.

Pattaya Memorial "generally a meat hospital" cut you up if at all possible, anything to make your stay as "LONG" and profitable as possible. They are also linked to the BIB, when a 911 goes out, you will find that if it is an accident involving a Farang, Pattaya Memorial arrive by ambulance first! No joke, I also saw them paying the BIB while I was interred there, you can see a lot from the 4th floor, as the farangs come in on the back of BIB pick ups.

Pattaya International, Is OK the consultants I dont trust. I had 3 consultants at the the end of my my bed one day, "ALL" wanting to open me up for different reasons?

Lucky I contacted my home country and waited a few hours, it was a severe bacterial infection not needing surgery.

The OP should contact his Doctor at his home country and get him to liase with the English speaking Doc in BKK Pattaya hospital.

Best of luck you are in good hands.

Been "inside 18 times" usually 2 weeks or more.

Any questions?

Sorry have to disagree.
Had a couple of very expensive misdiagnoses there!
Very upsetting as it was my children!
Go to Sri racha as suggested

Thanks to all who have replied...even the funny ones. (They help to relieve some of the worry.) BTW, I wouldnt let anyone from Teakdoor stand anywhere behind me!!!! My plan is to pay for a consultation and also have a series of blood and urine samples tested. Then pay for a second consultation to have all the results fully explained to me. Then I go back home to the NHS armed with the "Thai" results and opinions. I'm here for only a few more weeks and wont have any form of invasive treatment (apart from a gentle probe with a finger) I want really to use the Thai hospital here as a second opinion. Over 6 years my PSA reading has slowly but surely increased to a, now, dangerous level. I have an appointment for a repeat test when I return home.
I might even pay for the hospital here myself. Though I'm worried and in slight pain I think the Insurance wouldnt consider this to be a real emergency.
Does anyone have ANY thought as to what the costs might be??
Thanks for the help so far.

Good2bhappy, Do you really think that would be true.? I've never been in any medical establishment here before so I dont know how expert they are. Do their labs not all have the same standards as UK and USA? After all if they are so bad there would be no Thai race of people. Can someone comment as I dont want to waste my time and money to find out inaccurate and potentially worrying information.

Ask for a European consultant at BKK Pattaya Hospital. Two weeks ago my wifes sister got a boob job there, she was "Seeing to by an english surgeon".

Its best to inform them of why you require the test, and also make sure their qualifications are applicaple back in your home country.

I am a wealth of knowledge on hospitals, I know feck all else.

Believe me BKK hospital is sound as a pound, once you inform them of what you are going to do with the results.

I have bad experiences in Pattaya and Udon, so I check """""Everybody and Every procedure"""""".

I found out why I was so sick in Udon hospital once, getting worse by the day , puking all over the gaff. I asked my wife what does it say on that drip going into my arm?????????????????????? She replied it was a Thai Geezers name, I asked her to go outside and see if that name is on any other doors? Yes there was. I found out they were pumping the stuff for the Thai geezer next door into me????????? No wonder I was sick "He had cancer".

Our maid shat a bloody stool 7 odd years ago and within one day was diagnosed with colon cancer at Nong Khai Hospital. Now that's what you call a first class medical service. Downside, for the hospital, was of course she didn't have cancer as a second and third opinion confirmed, but why let the truth get in the way of a good money earner.
