Yep, when they're in the cot etc (luckily enough they fit perfectly too, almost like they were taliormade).

They still get munched from time-to-time though. For all we know we're trapping the bloody things in there with them sometimes.

The Tiger mossies bite in the daytime, so nets at night will not be of much use

for kids, use the citronella spray in the daytime, it is said to be user friendly

Just been reading that 14,000 people have been diagnosed with Dengue Fever in 2008, most since April. The early rains have been put as the instigator. An increase of 72% over last year.

The Citronalla in the hurricane lamp is synthisised from turpentine derived from conifers. I'm not sure this repells mosquitos. Look up the oil on Wikipedia it'll tell you better on there.

Rosemary

This garden herb also has an oil that repels mosquitoes. While they are attractive plants that both repel mosquitoes and can add interest to your cooking, they are truly tropical plants that are not hardy in cold climates. You can, however, grow rosemary in a pot and take it inside in the winter.
Marigolds

Marigolds have a particular smell that many insects and humans find objectionable. They are a good plant for repelling mosquitoes as well as insects that can attack vegetable plants and aphids. Marigolds are annuals with bright flowers that range from lemon yellow to dark oranges and reds.
Mosquito Plants

There are actually plants on the market that are simply called Mosquito plants. They are advertised as a plant that repels mosquitoes. There are different schools of thoughts on these plants. they sell two types of mossie deterrent made locally. One is yellow with Deet, the other is green with Citronella

available at most pharmacies and some 7-11s

anyhow dengue is VIRUS and the body has to heal himself but if severe,hospital is mandatory,as it throw you on the floor:comfort &survey of other weakness you may have!YOU WILL NOT GET IT AGAIN BUT BEWARE OF THE 3 OTHER FORMS,YOU'RE NOT IMMUNISED!!!
TIP:rest 3 weeks+another3 lazy,as if you start full speed it come back "on the
double" pains included.personal experience/fever with halucinations...PAINSSS
Aedes mosquito nest in very little clear water:1/2 heineken make a condo,a flower vase a bad & breakfast,new batch in 5/7 days(fill vase with sand,level with water,work exactly same)or change water twice a week;they can live in 3 MM.water 1/8 inch.Check 50 meters around house(tyre,coconut,gutter,wrecks...)

This is really a useful thread at this time of year, woke up today and my 5 month year old had 3 fresh bites in the night. Yesterday I picked up 3-5 bite during the daytime, I get worried sometimes, only takes one bite.

Had two students of mine in the hospital with it a couple of weeks ago. Gave me the impression that the locals get it and it exists in cities.

A doctor in Chiang Mai told me that the city was in the midst of the worst dengue outbreak in 10 years.
